A lot of people switch to veggies and quit their non-vegetarian food for a healthier diet. If you are one among them, make sure that you don’t do some mistakes even while consuming veggies. There are a lot of Indians who are becoming health conscious and switching to a completely veg meal. There are a lot of restaurants as well which serve different types of veggies.
But, just because you switched to a vegetarian diet doesn’t mean that you have become a health pro. Typical vegetarians also do some mistakes which affect their health and body. If you are a newbie veggie or surprised reading this article so far, here are some mistakes usually made while having veggie diet.
1. Be Careful While Picking Your Yogurt
Yogurts are good. They are enriched with Proteins and Calcium. But here’s a catch. When you purchase Yogurt from the stores, the packing comes with added sugar or even candy at times. These can really add to your calories and affect your diet.
Read the Package twice for Calories before purchasing the Yogurt. Opt for Plain Yogurt.
2. Overly Obsessing About Protein
“Not much protein is present in a vegetarian Diet”. This is a total myth and its outdated. Our doctors say that there is enough protein to meet your calories. The amount of protein intake sometimes, even get exceeded than the amount which you require. Seeds, Whole Grains, Nuts and Pulses are all enriched with protein and apt for a vegetarian diet.
Make sure that you don’t overly obsess about your protein intake and enjoy some veggies.
3. Eating Only Fruits Do Not Provide You Energy
Eating fruits is undoubtedly good for you but do you realize your energy levels can drastically go down? Fruits do provide you with vitamins and fiber but where will you get the energy to work from? Doctors say that by snacking on just fruits, you are missing out on serious carbohydrates, proteins and healthy fats. These are the only things that provide you with the energy you need for the day.
4. You Need Variety
A single veggie will not provide you with all the minerals and amino acids that you need. You need to switch up to stay healthy. If you eat spinach one day, try having some quinoa the other day. This way you will be able to maintain your veggie diet.
5. Don’t Convert Your Salad Into a Calorie Overload
Having a salad is different from having a salad with vinegar and cheese. Every drop of vinegar you add to the salad will add about 120 calories. Make sure that you find the right balance.
6. Get Enough Vitamin B12
There are a lot of people in India with Vitamin B12 Deficiency. This can be quite serious as it might lead to inflammation and other health complications. Plants do not provide much B12 which you require.
Make sure that you have a glass of milk and an egg every day, this will nourish your body with the required Vitamin B 12 and keep you healthy.
