Drug Information MONTELUKAST is a leukotriene receptor antagonist that blocks substances called leukotrienes.Leukotrienes cause narrowing and swelling of airways in the lungs and also cause allergy symptoms.By blocking leukotrienes, MONTELUKAST improves asthma symptoms, helps control asthma and improves seasonal allergy symptoms (also known as hay fever or seasonal allergic rhinitis).Your doctor has prescribed MONTELUKAST to treat asthma, preventing your asthma symptoms during the day and night. 窶「MONTELUKAST is used for the treatment of patients who are not adequately controlled on their medication and need additional therapy. 窶「MONTELUKAST also helps prevent the narrowing of airways triggered by exercise. 窶「In those asthmatic patients in whom MONTELUKAST is indicated in asthma, MONTELUKAST can also provide symptomatic relief of seasonal allergic rhinitis. Your doctor will determine how MONTELUKAST should be used depending on the symptoms and severity of your asthma Asthma is a long-term disease. Asthma includes: 窶「difficulty breathing because of narrowed airways. This narrowing of airways worsens and improves in response to various conditions. 窶「sensitive airways that react to many things, such as cigarette smoke, pollen, cold air, or exercise. 窶「swelling (inflammation) in the lining of the airways. Symptoms of asthma include:Coughing, wheezing, and chest tightness. Seasonal allergies (also known as hay fever or seasonal allergic rhinitis) are an allergic response often caused by airborne pollens from trees, grasses and weeds. The symptoms of seasonal allergies typically may include: stuffy, runny, itchy nose; sneezing; watery, swollen, red, itchy eyes

Before Consuming the Medicine
Avoid Drug 窶「are allergic (hypersensitive) to montelukast or any of the other ingredients of MONTELUKAST.
Drug Special Care If your asthma or breathing gets worse, tell your doctor immediately. 窶「Oral MONTELUKAST is not meant to treat acute asthma attacks. If an attack occurs, follow the instructions your doctor has given you. Always have your inhaled rescue medicine for asthma attacks with you. 窶「It is important that you or your child take all asthma medications prescribed by your doctor.MONTELUKAST should not be substituted for other asthma medications your doctor has prescribed for you. 窶「Any patient on anti-asthma medicines should be aware that if you develop a combination of symptoms such as a flu-like illness, pins and needles or numbness of arms or legs, worsening of pulmonary symptoms, and/or rash, you should consult your doctor. 窶「You should not take acetyl-salicylic acid (aspirin) or anti-inflammatory medicines (also known as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or NSAIDs) if they make your asthma worse. For children 2 to 5 years old, MONTELUKAST Paediatric 4 mg chewable tablets and MONTELUKAST Paediatric 4 mg granules are available.For children 6 to 14 years old, MONTELUKAST Paediatric 5 mg chewable tablets are available.
Drug Drug Interactions 窶「phenobarbital (used for treatment of epilepsy) 窶「phenytoin (used for treatment of epilepsy) 窶「rifampicin (used to treat tuberculosis and some other infections)
Drug Pregnancy Interaction Women who are pregnant or intend to become pregnant should consult their doctor before taking MONTELUKAST . Your doctor will assess whether you can take MONTELUKAST during this time.
Drug Breast feeding Interaction It is not known if MONTELUKAST appears in breast milk. You should consult your doctor before taking MONTELUKAST if you are breast-feeding or intend to breast-feed.
Drug Machinery Interaction MONTELUKAST is not expected to affect your ability to drive a car or operate machinery. However, individual responses to medication may vary. Certain side effects (such as dizziness and drowsiness) that have been reported very rarely with MONTELUKAST may affect some patients窶 ability to drive or operate machinery.

How to take the Medicine
Consumption Info
Drug quanitty One 10 mg tablet to be taken daily in the evening. MONTELUKAST 10 mg may be taken with or without food.If you are taking MONTELUKAST , be sure that you do not take any other products that contain the same active ingredient, montelukast
Drug Dose 窶「You should take only one tablet of MONTELUKAST once a day as prescribed by your doctor. 窶「It should be taken even when you have no symptoms or have an acute asthma attack. 窶「Always take MONTELUKAST as your doctor has told you. Excess Drug Consumption Contact your doctor immediately for advice.There were no side effects reported in the majority of overdose reports. The most frequently occurring symptoms reported with overdose in adults and children included abdominal pain, sleepiness, thirst, headache, vomiting, and hyperactivity
Forgot Drug Consumption Try to take MONTELUKAST as prescribed. However, if you miss a dose, just resume the usual schedule of one tablet once daily.Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose.
Stop Drug Consumption MONTELUKAST can treat your asthma only if you continue to take it.It is important to continue taking MONTELUKAST for as long as your doctor prescribes. It will help control your asthma.If you have any further questions on the use of this product, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Possible Side Effects
General Information In clinical studies with MONTELUKAST 10 mg film-coated tablets, the most commonly reported side effects (occurring in at least 1 of 100 patients and less than 1 of 10 patients treated) thought to be related to MONTELUKAST were: 窶「abdominal pain 窶「headache
Common Drug Side Effects upper respiratory infection increased bleeding tendency allergic reactions including rash, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, and/or throat which may cause difficulty in breathing or swallowing behaviour and mood related changes [dream abnormalities, including nightmares, hallucinations, irritability, feeling anxious, restlessness, agitation including aggressive behaviour or hostility, tremor, depression, trouble sleeping, sleep walking, suicidal thoughts and actions (in very rare cases)] dizziness, drowsiness, pins and needles/numbness, seizure palpitations nosebleed diarrhoea, dry mouth, indigestion, nausea, vomiting hepatitis (inflammation of the liver) bruising, itching, hives, tender red lumps under the skin most commonly on your shins (erythema nodosum), joint or muscle pain, muscle cramps tiredness, feeling unwell, swelling, fever In asthmatic patients treated with montelukast, very rare cases of a combination of symptoms such as flu-like illness, pins and needles or numbness of arms and legs, worsening of pulmonary symptoms and/or rash (Churg-Strauss syndrome) have been reported. FEXOFENADINE

Drug Information It contains fexofenadine hydrochloride, which is an antihistamine. Fexofenadine is used in children 6 to 11 years old to relieve the symptoms that occur with hay fever (seasonal allergic rhinitis) such as sneezing, itchy, runny or blocked nose and\ itchy, red and watery eyes.

Before Consuming the Medicine
Avoid Drug if your child is allergic (hypersensitive) to fexofenadine .
Drug Special Care ??if your child has liver or kidneys problems if your child has or ever had heart disease, since this medicine may lead to a fast or irregular heart beat If any of these apply to your child, or if you are not sure, always tell your doctor before giving fexofenadine to your child.
Drug Drug Interactions Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if your child is asking or has recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription. Indigestion remedies containing aluminium and magnesium may affect the action of fexofenadine, by lowering the amount of drug absorbed. It is recommended that 2 hours are left between the time that your child takes fexofenadine and the indigestion remedy.
Drug Pregnancy Interaction This medicine is for use in children 6-11 years of age. However, the following information should be noted regarding the safe use of this medicine. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before giving any medicine. Fexofenadine should not be taken during pregnancy, unless necessary.
Drug Breast feeding Interaction Fexofenadine is not recommended during breast-feeding.
Drug Machinery Interaction Fexofenadine is unlikely to affect ones ability to drive or use machines. However, you should check that these do not make your child feel sleepy or dizzy. Do not let your child drive or operate machinery if they are affected.

Excess Drug Consumption If your child takes too many , contact your doctor or the nearest hospital emergency department immediately. Symptoms of an overdose are dizziness, drowsiness, fatigue and dry mouth.
Forgot Drug Consumption Do not give a double dose to make up for a forgotten. Give the next dose at the usual time as prescribed by the doctor. Fexofenadine hydrochloride
Stop Drug Consumption Tell your doctor if you want your child to stop taking Fexofenadine before the course of treatment has finished. If treatment with Fexofenadine is stopped earlier than planned, the symptoms may return.
Possible Side Effects
General Information Fexofenadine if your child experiences swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat and difficulty breathing, as these may be signs of a serious allergic reaction. In clinical trials in children 6 to 11 years of age, the most common side effect was headache.
Common Drug Side Effects headache, drowsiness, feeling sick (nausea) and dizziness.
Rare Drug Side Effects tiredness/sleepiness. Additional side effects (frequency unknown) which may occur are: difficulty sleeping (insomnia), sleeping disorders, bad dreams, nervousness, skin rash and itching, hives, serious allergic reactions which can cause swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat, flushing, chest tightness, and difficulty breathing, fast or irregular heart beat and diarrhoea.
