Information for patients
Drug Information Cyclobenzaprine is a muscle relaxant. It works by blocking nerve impulses (or pain sensations) that are sent to your brain. Cyclobenzaprine is used together with rest and physical therapy to treat skeletal muscle conditions such as pain or injury.
Drug Alert
Alert You should not use cyclobenzaprine if you have a thyroid disorder, heart block, congestive heart failure, a heart rhythm disorder, or you have recently had a heart attack.
Before Consuming the Medicine
Avoid Drug Do not use cyclobenzaprine if you have taken an MAO inhibitor in the past 14 days. A dangerous drug interaction could occur. MAO inhibitors include isocarboxazid, linezolid, phenelzine, rasagiline, selegiline, and tranylcypromine.
Drug Special Care Take the medicine at the same time each day. Do not crush, chew, break, or open an extended-release capsule. Swallow it whole.

Drug Pregnancy Interaction Pregnancy Category B: Reproduction studies have been performed in rats, mice and rabbits at doses up to 20 times the human dose, and have revealed no evidence of impaired fertility or harm to the fetus due to Cyclobenzaprine Hydrochloride
Drug Breast feeding Interaction It is not known whether this drug is excreted in human milk. Because cyclobenzaprine is closely related to the tricyclic antidepressants, some of which are known to be excreted in human milk, caution should be exercised when Cyclobenzaprine Hydrochloride is administered to a nursing woman.
Drug Machinery Interaction This medication may impair your thinking or reactions. Be careful if you drive or do anything that requires you to be alert.

How to take the Medicine
Consumption Info Cyclobenzaprine is usually taken once daily for only 2 or 3 weeks. Follow all directions on your prescription label. Do not take this medicine in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended.
Drug quanitty Initial dose: 5 mg orally 3 times a day. Based on individual patient response, the dose may be increased to either 7.5 mg or 10 mg 3 times a day.
Drug Dose
Excess Drug Consumption Seek emergency medical attention or call the Poison Help line at 1-800-222-1222. An overdose of cyclobenzaprine can be fatal.
Forgot Drug Consumption Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose. Do not take extra medicine to make up the missed dose.

Possible Side Effects
General Information In addition to its needed effects, some unwanted effects may be caused by cyclobenzaprine. In the event that any of these side effects do occur, they may require medical attention.
Common Drug Side Effects Commonly reported side effects of cyclobenzaprine include: drowsiness and xerostomia. Other side effects include: fatigue. See below for a comprehensive list of adverse effects.
Rare Drug Side Effects Changes in the skin color of the face fast or irregular breathing large swellings that look like hives on the face, eyelids, mouth, lips, and/or tongue puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or the area around the eyes shortness of breath, troubled breathing, tightness in chest, and/or wheezing skin rash, hives, or itching
Very Rare Drug Side Effects Bloated feeling or gas, indigestion, nausea or vomiting, or stomach cramps or pain constipation diarrhea excitement or nervousness frequent urination general feeling of discomfort or illness headache muscle twitching numbness, tingling, pain, or weakness in hands or feet pounding heartbeat problems in speaking trembling
