Which medicine is better for treating a sore throat and a cold: Leon 500 mg or Mahacef Plus?
Neither Leon 500 mg nor Mahacef Plus is appropriate for treating a common cold and sore throat. Both are strong prescription antibiotics; Leon contains Levofloxacin, and Mahacef Plus contains Cefixime and Ofloxacin. Colds and most sore throats are caused by viruses, against which antibiotics are completely ineffective. Taking them unnecessarily can cause side effects and contribute to antibiotic resistance. For viral cold symptoms, symptomatic relief using over-the-counter pain relievers (like paracetamol), throat lozenges, warm saline gargles, and adequate hydration is recommended. Please consult a doctor for a proper evaluation before starting any antibiotic medication.
