Fluanxol Depot 40 mg Injection 2 ml belongs to a class of medications called antipsychotics used to treat schizophrenia (a mental illness) and other psychotic disorders. Schizophrenia is a mental disorder that affects the ability of a person to feel, think and behave clearly.

Fluanxol Depot 40 mg Injection 2 ml contains Flupentixol which works by inhibiting the dopamine (chemical messenger) receptors in the brain. Dopamine is involved in regulating mood, behaviour, and emotions. Thereby, Fluanxol Depot 40 mg Injection 2 ml helps in controlling psychotic illness by preventing the overactivity of dopamine in the brain. Thus, it helps in improving feelings, disturbing thoughts, and behaviour.

Fluanxol Depot 40 mg Injection 2 ml will be administered by a healthcare professional; do not self-administer. Some people may experience dry mouth, drowsiness, rigidity of the whole body, muscle spasms, headache, changes in weight, dizziness, insomnia (difficulty in sleeping), nervousness, or depression. Most of these side effects of Fluanxol Depot 40 mg Injection 2 ml do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time.
