About MPL XR 25MG TABLET

MPL XR 25MG TABLET belongs to a group of medicines called beta-blockers used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension), heart-related chest pain (angina), irregular heart rhythm (arrhythmia), and to protect the heart after a heart attack (myocardial infarction). Hypertension or high blood pressure is a chronic condition in which the blood exerts an increased pressure against the arteries that may lead to various types of heart diseases. Besides this, MPL XR 25MG TABLET may also help in relieving symptoms of migraine-related headache and tremors (fits). 

MPL XR 25MG TABLET contains 'Metoprolol', which helps in slowing down the heart rate, making it easier for the heart to pump blood throughout the body. This lowers the blood pressure and helps in reducing the risk of having a stroke, heart attack, or other heart or kidney problems in the future. 

Based on your medical condition, your doctor will decide the dose and duration. In some cases, MPL XR 25MG TABLET may cause certain common side effects like dizziness, tiredness, diarrhoea, stomach pain, nausea, and headache. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and resolve gradually over time. However, if the side effects are persistent, reach out to your doctor.

Inform your doctor if you have low blood pressure, asthma, overactive thyroid, metabolic acidosis, or severe blood circulation problems. The detailed uses of MPL XR 25MG TABLET are as follows:<br/>• Treatment of Hypertension: MPL XR 25MG TABLET controls high blood pressure by reducing the heart rate and the force of contraction, thereby lowering blood pressure.<br/>• Prevention of Heart-related Chest Pain: MPL XR 25MG TABLET prevents chest pain (angina) by reducing the workload on the heart and improving blood flow to the heart muscle.<br/>• Control of Abnormal Heart Rhythms: MPL XR 25MG TABLET helps manage irregular heartbeats (arrhythmias) by slowing the heart rate and stabilizing the heart's rhythm, reducing symptoms and improving heart function.<br/>• Management of Heart Attack: MPL XR 25MG TABLET is used to manage heart attack (myocardial infarction) by reducing the workload on the heart and preventing further damage.<br/>

Directions for Use

• MPL XR 25MG TABLET should be taken with or immediately after a meal for better absorption.• It is usually taken 2-3 times daily at the same time each day or as prescribed by your doctor.• Swallow MPL XR 25MG TABLET as a whole with a glass of water.• Do not crush, chew, open, or break it.

Do not take more than the prescribed dose of MPL XR 25MG TABLET as it may cause overdose. The symptoms of overdose include slow heart rate, difficulty breathing, trembling or dizziness. If you suspect you have taken overdose or notice signs of overdose, please consult a doctor immediately.

Drug Warnings

Do not take MPL XR 25MG TABLET if you are allergic to MPL XR 25MG TABLET or any other beta-blockers. Avoid taking MPL XR 25MG TABLET if you have/had heart conduction, rhythm problems, uncontrolled/severe heart failure, blocked blood vessels, blood circulation problems, untreated pheochromocytoma, metabolic acidosis, low blood pressure, or prinzmetal angina. Inform your doctor if you have asthma, COPD, diabetes, blood vessel disorder, slow heart rate, pheochromocytoma, myasthenia gravis, dry eye problems, kidney or liver impairment; if you are taking anti-depressants, other blood pressure-lowering medicines, or anti-arrhythmic agents. Consult your doctor before taking MPL XR 25MG TABLET if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. MPL XR 25MG TABLET is not recommended for children as safety and efficacy have not been established.
