MAGNESIUM SULPHATE 2ML is a mineral supplement, and an anticonvulsant primarily used to prevent and control seizures (fits) in preeclampsia and eclampsia (serious complications in pregnancy that occur due to high blood pressure). MAGNESIUM SULPHATE 2ML is also used to treat hypomagnesaemia, a condition characterized by abnormally low magnesium levels in the blood.
MAGNESIUM SULPHATE 2ML contains Magnesium sulfate. It is a mineral supplement and an electrolyte. It prevents and controls seizures by blocking neuromuscular transmission, the transfer of nerve impulses to the heart. It further has a depressant effect on the central nervous system and acts peripherally to cause vasodilation.
MAGNESIUM SULPHATE 2ML will be administered by a healthcare professional. It causes some side effects, although not everybody gets them. Side effects include dizziness, drowsiness, low blood pressure, flushing, and sweating. Most of these effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, if any of these side effects persist or worsen, please seek medical advice.
Before receiving MAGNESIUM SULPHATE 2ML , let your doctor know if you have kidney/liver/heart diseases, dehydration, stomach/gastrointestinal disorders, myasthenia gravis (muscle weakness) and sensitivities. Inform your doctor if you are a pregnant and breastfeeding woman before taking MAGNESIUM SULPHATE 2ML . The safety and efficacy of this medicine have not been established in children younger than twelve years of age.

MAGNESIUM SULPHATE 2ML contains Magnesium sulfate. It is a mineral supplement and an electrolyte. It is also an anticonvulsant that prevents and controls seizures (fits) in preeclampsia and eclampsia. MAGNESIUM SULPHATE 2ML is also used to treat abnormally low magnesium levels in the blood. It works by blocking neuromuscular transmission. It further has a depressant effect on the central nervous system. Magnesium sulfate aids in the normal functioning of cells, nerves, muscles, bones, and the heart.

Inform your doctor if you have a medical history of kidney/liver/heart diseases, dehydration, stomach/gastrointestinal disorders, alcohol dependence, and myasthenia gravis (muscle weakness) before starting MAGNESIUM SULPHATE 2ML . Let your doctor know if you are a pregnant or breastfeeding woman before taking MAGNESIUM SULPHATE 2ML . Avoid alcohol consumption while undergoing treatment with MAGNESIUM SULPHATE 2ML as it might interact and increase the occurrence of side effects. MAGNESIUM SULPHATE 2ML can cause dizziness and drowsiness affecting your ability to drive; hence drive only when you are alert and focused. MAGNESIUM SULPHATE 2ML is not recommended in children younger than 12 years of age.
Drug-Drug Interactions: MAGNESIUM SULPHATE 2ML may interact with blood pressure medicines (nifedipine, nimodipine), heart-related medicines (digitalis), immunosuppressants (cyclosporine), antifungals (amphotericin B), muscle relaxants (tubocurarine), chemotherapy drugs (cisplatin) aminoglycoside antibiotics, and water pills.
Drug-Food Interactions: Avoid the intake of alcohol and caffeinated drinks while using MAGNESIUM SULPHATE 2ML to prevent any interactions.
Drug-Disease Interactions: Inform your doctor about myasthenia gravis, liver/kidney/heart diseases, alcohol dependence, dehydration, and stomach/gastrointestinal disorders. Magnesium sulfate is not recommended for use in severely impaired renal function. It should not be used in a hepatic coma if there is a risk of renal failure.
Avoid taking alcohol while using MAGNESIUM SULPHATE 2ML since it may interact and worsen the side effects. Please seek medical advice for more information.
MAGNESIUM SULPHATE 2ML is a pregnancy category D drug and has shown harmful effects on the foetus. However, seizure control is mandatory during eclampsia in pregnancy. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or planning pregnancy. Your doctor will prescribe MAGNESIUM SULPHATE 2ML if the benefits outweigh the risks.
Magnesium sulfate passes into breast milk. If you are breastfeeding, please inform your doctor before receiving MAGNESIUM SULPHATE 2ML .
You may experience dizziness and drowsiness while using MAGNESIUM SULPHATE 2ML . In such cases, do not drive or operate machinery until you are mentally alert and focused.
MAGNESIUM SULPHATE 2ML should be used with caution in patients with liver problems. Please inform your doctor if you have a liver impairment. Your doctor may adjust the dose or prescribe a suitable alternative based on your condition.
MAGNESIUM SULPHATE 2ML should be used with caution in patients with kidney problems. Please inform your doctor if you have kidney impairment. Your doctor may adjust your dose depending on your current medical conditions.
MAGNESIUM SULPHATE 2ML is not recommended in children below 12 years of age.

Eclampsia: It is a complication that is characterized by convulsions/seizures during a woman's pregnancy or shortly after giving birth. Symptoms include upper-right abdominal pain, severe headache and vision and mental status changes.
Fits/Seizure: It is characterized as a sudden and uncontrollable electrical disturbance in the brain. Symptoms include uncontrolled jerking movements of the arms and legs, loss of consciousness, and temporary confusion.
Hypomagnesaemia: It is a condition that occurs when a person has abnormally low levels of magnesium. This occurs when a person does not get enough magnesium in their diet, or he/she is unable to absorb magnesium properly. Symptoms include nausea, vomiting, weakness, personality changes, tremor, fatigue, seizures, irregular heartbeat, and high blood pressure.
