About Zengat 0.5%W/V Eye Drops 5ml

Zengat 0.5%W/V Eye Drops 5ml contains a class of antibiotics known as fluoroquinolones, primarily used to treat bacterial infections, including conjunctivitis/pink eye. Conjunctivitis is the infection of the outer white membrane of the eyeball. This infection is highly contagious in nature and can pass one to another. Sign and symptoms include pink/red toned eyes, gritty feeling in eyes, itchiness in areas of eyes, teary eyes, and thick discharge around eyes. 

Zengat 0.5%W/V Eye Drops 5ml contains Gatifloxacin, which helps in treating and preventing a wide range of bacterial infections. It kills bacteria (bactericidal action) by preventing synthesis of enzymes, namely DNA gyrase and Topoisomerase IV, which is essential for growth and survival of the bacterial cell. Zengat 0.5%W/V Eye Drops 5ml has a broad spectrum of antibacterial activity against aerobic gram-positive and aerobic gram-negative bacteria (that lives in oxygen).

Zengat 0.5%W/V Eye Drops 5ml should be taken in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. You are advised to take Zengat 0.5%W/V Eye Drops 5ml for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you depending on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience certain common side effects such as eye irritation, eye redness, pain while administration, blurred vision, decrease in taste sensitivity (dysgeusia). Most of these side effects of Zengat 0.5%W/V Eye Drops 5ml do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects are persistent, reach out to your doctor. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.

Before starting Zengat 0.5%W/V Eye Drops 5ml, please inform your doctor if you have any allergy against any antibiotic, or have kidney/liver problems. Do not take Zengat 0.5%W/V Eye Drops 5ml on your own as self-medication may lead to antibiotic-resistance in which antibiotics fail to act against specific bacterial infections. You should not wear contact lenses while you have symptoms of bacterial conjunctivitis or while you are applying Zengat 0.5%W/V Eye Drops 5ml. Consult your doctor before taking Zengat 0.5%W/V Eye Drops 5ml if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Zengat 0.5%W/V Eye Drops 5ml is not recommended for children below 1years of age. Zengat 0.5%W/V Eye Drops 5ml may cause temporary vision problems (blurred vision), so be cautious while driving and operating machinery.

Directions for Use

Ear drops: Instil 2-3 drops into the ear canal; do not touch the tip of the dropper. Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you. Check with your doctor if you are not sure.

Drug Warning

Do not take Zengat 0.5%W/V Eye Drops 5ml if you are allergic or have had a severe reaction to the quinolone or fluoroquinolone antibiotics like delafloxacin, ofloxacin, levofloxacin, moxifloxacin, and ciprofloxacin. You should not wear contact lenses while you have symptoms of bacterial conjunctivitis or while you are using Zengat 0.5%W/V Eye Drops 5ml. Please inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding before starting Zengat 0.5%W/V Eye Drops 5ml. Zengat 0.5%W/V Eye Drops 5ml is not recommended for children below 1 year of age as the safety and effectiveness have not been established. Also, inform your doctor about all other medications you have been taking before starting Zengat 0.5%W/V Eye Drops 5ml. Do not stop taking Zengat 0.5%W/V Eye Drops 5ml even if you feel better without asking your doctor as your symptoms may come back and may even worsen your condition. Zengat 0.5%W/V Eye Drops 5ml may cause blurred vision for sometimes, so it is advised not to drive a car or operate machinery after administrating it.

  • Alcohol

    Avoid consuming alcohol while taking medicines.

  • Pregnancy

    Zengat 0.5%W/V Eye Drops 5ml is a pregnancy Category C medicine. It is not known whether Zengat 0.5%W/V Eye Drops 5ml will affect pregnant women or fetus or not. Hence, the intake of Zengat 0.5%W/V Eye Drops 5ml should be avoided if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant as it may harm the baby.

  • Breast Feeding

    It is unknown if Zengat 0.5%W/V Eye Drops 5ml passes into breastmilk. Consult your doctor before taking Zengat 0.5%W/V Eye Drops 5ml if you are breastfeeding.

  • Driving

    Drive with caution, Zengat 0.5%W/V Eye Drops 5ml usually causes temporarily blurred vision and affects driving ability.
