Drug Information Pramipexole is used for: Treating the signs and symptoms of Parkinson disease. It is also used to treat restless legs syndrome (RLS).

Alert Do NOT use pramipexole if: you are allergic to any ingredient in pramipexole you are taking another medicine that has pramipexole in it.
Before Consuming the Medicine
Avoid Drug if you have any medical conditions, especially if any of the following apply to you: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement if you have allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances if you have kidney problems; low blood pressure; dizziness or fainting when you sit or stand up; sleep problems (eg, daytime sleepiness); trouble controlling your muscles; or mental, mood, or behavior problems if you drink alcohol or have a history of compulsive behavior (eg, eating, gambling, shopping)

Drug Drug Interactions Some MEDICINES MAY INTERACT with pramipexole. Tell your health care provider if you are taking any other medicines, especially any of the following: Cimetidine because it may increase the risk of pramipexole's side effects Butyrophenones (eg, haloperidol), metoclopramide, phenothiazines (eg, chlorpromazine), or thioxanthenes (eg, thiothixene) because they may decrease pramipexole's effectiveness Levodopa because the risk of its side effects may be increased by pramipexole

Drug quanitty Oral Parkinson's disease Adult: As an adjunct to levodopa therapy: As HCl: Initially, 125 mcg tid on the 1st wk, increased to 250 mcg tid on the 2nd wk and 500 mcg tid on the 3rd wk according to response. Daily dose may be increased by 750 mcg at wkly intervals. Max: 4.5 mg/day. Elderly: No dosage adjustment needed. Oral Restless leg syndrome Adult: As HCl: 125 mcg once daily 2-3 hr before bedtime. May increase, if necessary by 250 mcg every 4-7 days. Max: 750 mcg/day. Elderly: No dosage adjustment needed. Renal impairment: CrCl (ml/min) Dosage Recommendation 20-60 Increase titration interval to 14 days. Hepatic impairment: No dosage adjustment needed. Hepatic impairment: No dosage adjustment needed.
Drug Dose Pramipexole dihydrochloride tablets are taken orally, with or without food.

Possible Side Effects
General Information Pramipexole may cause dizziness, light-headedness, or fainting; alcohol, hot weather, exercise, or fever may increase these effects. To prevent them, sit up or stand slowly, especially in the morning. Sit or lie down at the first sign of any of these effects.
