ALUMINIUM HYDROXIDE+DICYCLOMINE+MAGNESIUM HYDROXIDE belongs to the class of medications called antacids used to treat acidity, heartburn, indigestion, gastritis (inflammation of the stomach), and bloating. The stomach has a mucous layer that protects the stomach from acid. In some cases, due to excess acid production, the mucous layer gets eroded, which leads to complications like acidity, gastritis, and heartburn.
ALUMINIUM HYDROXIDE+DICYCLOMINE+MAGNESIUM HYDROXIDE contains Dicyclomine, Aluminium hydroxide, and Magnesium hydroxide. Dicyclomine is an antispasmodic and anticholinergic agent. It works by relaxing the muscles in the gut and stomach and reducing spasms, pain, and other symptoms. Aluminum hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide are antacids and work by neutralizing excess stomach acid.
You should take this medicine exactly as prescribed by the doctor. The common side-effects of ALUMINIUM HYDROXIDE+DICYCLOMINE+MAGNESIUM HYDROXIDE are dry mouth, dizziness, blurred vision, nausea, drowsiness, nervousness, and lack of energy. These side-effects are usually mild, don’t require medical attention, and mostly resolve after the discontinuation of the treatment. However, if any of these side-effects persist or get worse, inform your doctor immediately.
It is not recommended to take ALUMINIUM HYDROXIDE+DICYCLOMINE+MAGNESIUM HYDROXIDE if you are allergic to any contents of it. It should not be used in patients with myasthenia gravis (a condition that causes muscle weakness), glaucoma (increased pressure in the eye), difficulty urination, blockage in the stomach or intestine, severe ulcerative colitis (inflammation of the colon), unstable heart condition due to acute bleeding, and inflammation of the esophagus (food pipe). It is not recommended for use in children. It should be used with caution in pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and elderly people. Alcohol may increase the risk of side-effects. ALUMINIUM HYDROXIDE+DICYCLOMINE+MAGNESIUM HYDROXIDE may cause dizziness, so do not drive or operate heavy machinery if you are not fully alert.
Acidity, heartburn, indigestion, and gastritis (inflammation of the stomach)

ALUMINIUM HYDROXIDE+DICYCLOMINE+MAGNESIUM HYDROXIDE should be used with caution in patients with heart diseases as it may worsen the condition. ALUMINIUM HYDROXIDE+DICYCLOMINE+MAGNESIUM HYDROXIDE may cause heat prostration (overheating of the body), resulting in fever and heat stroke. In such cases, therapy is discontinued, and supportive measures are given. ALUMINIUM HYDROXIDE+DICYCLOMINE+MAGNESIUM HYDROXIDE may lead to muscular weakness and paralysis when used in patients with myasthenia gravis (a condition that causes muscle weakness). ALUMINIUM HYDROXIDE+DICYCLOMINE+MAGNESIUM HYDROXIDE may cause fatal side-effects when used in patients with incomplete intestinal obstruction, ulcerative colitis (inflammation of the colon), and dysentery. ALUMINIUM HYDROXIDE+DICYCLOMINE+MAGNESIUM HYDROXIDE should be used with caution in patients with an enlarged prostate as it may cause urination problems. ALUMINIUM HYDROXIDE+DICYCLOMINE+MAGNESIUM HYDROXIDE should be used with liver and kidney diseases. Long-term use or use of high doses may increase the risk of phosphate depletion and osteomalacia (soft and weak bones), especially in patients with low-phosphorous diets. Long-term use should be avoided in patients with kidney diseases as it may worsen the condition. Prolonged use may also mask the symptoms of serious illnesses such as ulcers and cancer.
Drug-Drug Interactions: ALUMINIUM HYDROXIDE+DICYCLOMINE+MAGNESIUM HYDROXIDE may interact with a medicine used to treat heart disease (digoxin), antibiotics (tetracycline, cefpodoxime, and cefdinir), antitubercular agents (isoniazid and ethambutol), a medicine used to treat heart rhythm problems (quinidine), medicines used to lower blood pressure (atenolol and propranolol), antifungal agent (ketoconazole), steroid medicines, medicines used to treat glaucoma (latanoprost and travoprost), and anticholinergic agents (atropine, benztropine, and clidinium).
Drug-Food Interactions: Avoid taking citrate-containing foods and beverages along with ALUMINIUM HYDROXIDE+DICYCLOMINE+MAGNESIUM HYDROXIDE as it might lead to increased serum levels of aluminum. Avoid alcohol intake as it leads to increased production of stomach acid, thereby increases acidity and heartburn.

The stomach is usually protected from the acid by a mucous layer. In some cases, due to excess acid production, the mucous layer gets eroded, which leads to complications like acidity. Due to this, acid frequently flows back into the food pipe (esophagus). This backflow (acid reflux) irritates the food pipe and causes heartburn. Symptoms include heartburn, sour or bitter taste in the mouth, and difficulty swallowing. Indigestion is the feeling of fullness. It occurs due to slow gastric emptying. Symptoms include stomach pain, bloating, heartburn, nausea, and vomiting.
