Acne is a common skin condition and occurs when hair follicles are blocked with dead skin cells and oil.
BENZOIC ACID+MENTHOL+SALICYLIC ACID is a combination medicine that contains Salicylic acid, Menthol and Benzoic acid. Salicylic acid is a keratolytic medicine (softens, separates, and causes desquamation (peeling) of the cornified epithelium or horny layer of skin), which breaks down the clumps of keratin, removes dead skin cells, and softens the skin. Salicylic acid is also an anti-inflammatory agent and topical antibacterial agent. It treats acne and seborrhea (scaly patches and red skin mainly on the scalp) and removes corns, calluses, and warts. Menthol is also known as a counterirritant (lessens discomfort and/or inflammation of the skin) that acts by causing cooling and a warm sensation in the skin. This coolness and warmth distract a person from the aches/pains deeper in the skin. Benzoic acid is a fungistatic/antiseptic agent and works by inhibiting the growth of fungi. It is also used as an antimicrobial preservative and tablet and capsule lubricant.
