Medicinal Benefits:
Femo Tablet belongs to a class of medications called H2 receptor antagonists. Histamine binds to the H2 receptors in the parietal cells of the stomach and stimulates acid production. Femo Tablet binds to these receptors and blocks the histamine action. It also decreases the gastric secretion content. It also reduces the gastric secretion stimulated by food, caffeine, insulin, and pentagastrin. Caffeine, insulin (used in the treatment of diabetes), and pentagastrin (a synthetic drug that aids in diagnosing thyroid malignancy) stimulate gastric acid secretion.
Femo Tablet is used to treat stomach ulcers (gastric and duodenal ulcers), reflux oesophagitis, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.
Femo Tablet blocks the H2 receptors present on the stomach cells and reduces acid production. It improves symptoms such as heartburn, stomach pain, and difficulty swallowing.
Do not take Femo Tablet for the long term unless prescribed by a doctor. Prolonged use may cause unwanted side-effects. So, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks associated with the drug before using for the long-term.
Femo Tablet should be taken at night time as acid reflux is usually worse at night time. Take the tablet at a fixed time every day for better results.
Zollinger-Ellison syndrome is a rare condition in which one or more tumours form in your pancreas or the upper part of your small intestine (duodenum).
Acid reflux, also known as gastroesophageal reflux (GER), is when stomach acid flows backward into the oesophagus (the tube that connects your throat to your stomach). This can cause a burning sensation in your chest, also known as heartburn.
Making lifestyle modifications can often help to reduce acidity issues. Consume smaller meals more frequently throughout the day, and avoid trigger foods such as spicy dishes, coffee, alcohol, and fatty foods. Eating slowly and thoroughly can also help. Remain upright after eating and avoid lying down or going to bed immediately afterward. Maintaining a healthy weight, quitting smoking, and wearing loose clothing can all make a difference.
It is generally taken 15 to 60 minutes before eating foods to prevent symptoms like heartburn and acid indigestion.
Femo Tablet and Rantac (Ranitidine) are both H2 blockers used to reduce stomach acid, but they differ in their active ingredient as Femo Tablet contains Famotidine and Rantac contains ranitidine. Both medications work similarly to decrease acid production in the stomach and are used to treat conditions like heartburn and gastric ulcers. However, there are some differences in their dosages and side effects.
