Cosvategm Cream is used to treat fungal and bacterial infections of the skin. Also, it helps to reduce swelling, itching, and redness caused due to certain skin problems. It kills bacteria and fungi. Also, it works by acting inside skin cells and inhibits the release of certain chemical messengers in the body that cause redness, itching, and swelling. Some people may experience side effects such as skin peeling, dry skin, thinning of the skin, itching, pain, swelling, redness, irritation, or burning sensation at the site of application. Before using this medicine, you should tell your doctor if you are allergic to any of its components or if you are pregnant/breastfeeding, and about all the medications you are taking and pre-existing medical conditions.

  • Avoid extreme heat or cold, like hot showers or cold winds, to prevent worsening skin discomfort.
  • Cool compresses: To reduce itch, redness, and swelling.
  • Avoid irritants like harsh chemicals or allergens to prevent worsening skin discomfort.
  • If you have severe itching, burning, or blistering seek medical attention.
  • Keep your skin clean by gently washing your face two times daily and after sweating. Choose a mild and non-abrasive cleanser.
  • Use gentle alcohol-free skin care products. Avoid products that might irritate your skin such as exfoliants, astringents and toners.
  • Acne may also occur due to oil in the hair. Thus, if you have oily hair, shampoo more frequently than you do now and keep your hair away from face.
  • Keep your hands off your face as touching face throughout the day might worsen acne. Also, do not pick, squeeze or pop acne as it will prolong the healing process and increase the risk of dark spots and scarring.
  • Avoid tanning by applying a broad spectrum sunscreen and wearing sun-protective clothing when outdoors.
  • Shield your skin from the sun by using sunscreen, seeking shade, and wearing protective clothing.
  • Please don't smoke, as it damages the skin and reduces blood flow.
  • Treat your skin gently by limiting bath time, using mild cleansers, and shaving carefully.
  • Eat a healthy diet of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins.
  • Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water.
  • Manage stress through sleep, exercise, meditation, and enjoyable activities.
  • Additionally, use moisturizers to coat your skin with a protective barrier, and consider wearing sun-protective clothing.
  • Apply moisturizer immediately after showering or bathing.
  • Use a moisturizer containing lanolin, petroleum jelly, glycerine, hyaluronic acid or jojoba oil.
  • Do not use hot water for bathing. Instead use warm water and limit showers and bath to 5 to 10 minutes.
  • Apply a sunscreen with SPF-30 or higher.
  • Avoid harsh soaps, detergents and perfumes.
  • Do not scratch or rub the skin.
  • Drink adequate water to prevent dehydration.
  • Wear pants, full sleeves and a wide-brimmed hat while going out in the sun.

I have ringworm around my waist. I have used Ring Guard, Cosvate GM, and B-Tex without good results. I am also taking Teczine 5 mg for a few months as prescribed by my dermatologist. Cosvate GM reduced itching but caused skin darkening. A doctor on Lybrate advised Itrasys capsules and Candid cream for 7 days. Should I follow this treatment? If not, what should I use instead?

Ringworm is a fungal infection, and steroid-based creams (such as Cosvate GM) may temporarily reduce itching but can worsen or mask the infection and cause skin colour changes. It is better to avoid Cosvate GM and use a topical antifungal (such as clotrimazole or terbinafine) for at least 2 to 4 weeks, applied consistently. Oral itraconazole (like Itrasys) may be needed in stubborn or widespread cases, but should only be started and correctly dosed by your dermatologist, and seven days may be insufficient. It is best to confirm the treatment plan with your dermatologist before starting or changing medicines.

I have been using Cosvate GM Cream every night for about one year to improve my fairness. Recently, my skin became sensitive and turned red when exposed to heat or sunlight, so I stopped using it. After stopping, the redness has increased. What could be the cause of this, and what treatment should I take?

Long-term use of a steroid-based cream like Cosvate GM Cream (Clobetasol, Gentamicin, and Miconazole) can thin and damage the skin, leading to steroid-induced dermatitis (skin inflammation) and increased sensitivity to heat and sunlight. Stopping it suddenly may result in rebound redness and inflammation. You should consult a dermatologist, who may prescribe a mild topical steroid for short-term tapering, along with moisturisers and strict sun protection. Avoid using the cream again without medical advice.

I have had scabies in sensitive areas and on my hands for two years. I have been using Cosvate GM cream, which provides only temporary relief. What is the proper treatment for a complete cure?

Cosvate GM Cream (Clobetasol, Gentamicin, and Miconazole) is a steroid-based cream that may reduce itching but actually prevents your body from fighting the underlying scabies mites, which is why your relief is only temporary. To achieve a complete cure, you will need a specific scabicidal agent, such as Permethrin cream or Malathion liquid, applied to the entire body and repeated after seven days. It is also important to wash all bedding and clothes in hot water and to treat everyone in your household at the same time to prevent reinfection.
