Dorab SR Capsule

Dorab SR Capsule is used in the treatment of acid reflux symptoms caused by peptic ulcer, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome (overproduction of acid due to a pancreatic tumour) and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). The detailed uses of Dorab SR Capsule are as follows:

• Take Dorab SR Capsule one hour before a meal or as advised by your doctor.
• Follow your doctor's instructions on the dosage and timing of this medication.
• Swallow Dorab SR Capsule as a whole with a glass of water.
• Do not crush, chew, or break it.

• Dorab SR Capsule is effective in healing erosive esophagitis (inflammation of the food pipe), heartburn, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, duodenal ulcers, gastric ulcers, and Crohn’s disease-associated ulcers.
• Dorab SR Capsule works by irreversibly blocking the proton pump gate, which secretes stomach acid. It can be prescribed to all age groups, including special populations like the elderly, pregnant, lactating mothers, and patients with kidney and liver disease.
• Dorab SR Capsule helps manage acidity-related conditions, promotes digestion, and provides relief from associated discomfort.

• Avoid taking Dorab SR Capsule if you are allergic to Dorab SR Capsule or have any history of gastric cancer, liver disease, low magnesium levels, or low vitamin B1.
• Prolonged intake of Dorab SR Capsule may cause lupus erythematosus (an inflammatory condition in which the immune system attacks its own tissues), vitamin B12, and magnesium deficiency.
• Dorab SR Capsule may interact with blood thinners, antifungals, anti-HIV drugs, iron supplements, and anti-cancer medications. Please inform your doctor if you are taking any of these medications.
• Intake of Dorab SR Capsule may mask the symptoms of gastric cancer, so if you have any severe stomach pain or blood in stool, immediately consult the doctor.
• It is advised to stop consuming alcohol and smoking, as it can cause serious side effects. This medicine is not recommended for use in children below 16 years of age.
• Avoid caffeine-containing beverages (coffee, tea), spicy/deep-fried/processed foods, carbonated drinks, and acidic foods like citrus fruits/vegetables (tomatoes).
• Although Dorab SR Capsule is safe for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding, inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding before starting treatment with Dorab SR Capsule. Let your doctor know if you are taking any other medicines, including supplements and herbal products, to prevent any interactions.
• Store Dorab SR Capsule at room temperature. Keep the medicine out of reach of children. Do not take more than the recommended dose of medicine, as it can cause undesirable effects.
• It is always important to check the expiry date of the medicine. Discard the medicine if it reaches the expiry date.

• Avoid intake of acid or heartburn-triggering foods or drinks like onions, peppermint, chocolate, caffeinated beverages, citrus fruits or juices, tomatoes and high-fat and spicy foods.
• Avoid taking alcohol and smoking cigarette. Alcohol can raise the level of production of stomach acid leading to heartburn and acid reflux. On the other hand, nicotine smoking damages the valve (sphincter), preventing stomach acid backflow into the food pipe.
• Avoid regular sitting continuously, as it can increase stomach acid production. Try to take a break of 5 minutes in 1 hour by brisk walking or stretching.
• Before going to sleep, try to raise your bedhead so that your head and chest are higher than your feet. Do not use piles of pillows, instead, one raised block is fine. This will not allow the stomach acid to backflow through your food pipe.
• Include high fibre containing foods, berries, cherries, leafy green veggies (kale, spinach) and black peppers in your meal. These foods are full of antioxidants, calcium and vitamin B 12 that can help cope with the long-term effects of the medicine.
• Fermented dairy products like miso, sauerkraut, and kimchi contain probiotics which help in the prevention of excess stomach acid production. Cranberry juice can be beneficial in the peptic ulcer and H Pylori infection.
