Krimson 35 mg Tablet contains Ethylestradiol and Cyproterone. It is used to treat moderate to severe acne related to androgen sensitivity and/or hirsutism (excess hair growth) in women of reproductive age. It works by blocking the production of androgens (male hormones) in the ovaries, thereby helping reduce acne and hair growth. In some cases, this medication may cause nausea, abdominal pain, headache, weight gain and mood changes. Before starting this medicine, inform your doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking any other medicines or have pre-existing medical conditions.

Krimson 35 is a hormonal contraceptive pill, but protection may not be immediate if it is started after the first day of the menstrual cycle. Doctors generally recommend using additional protection for at least 7 days after starting the tablet. Since you had intercourse on the 6th day, the risk of pregnancy cannot be completely ruled out. It is advisable to consult a gynaecologist promptly for proper guidance on whether any additional steps are needed. Krimson 35 should not be relied upon as emergency contraception.

I have PCOD, which I understand causes hormonal imbalance. Recently, I have developed skin pigmentation. Could this be related to my PCOD, and how can I treat it?

Your skin pigmentation is likely acanthosis nigricans, a skin condition associated with PCOD (polycystic ovarian disease) that arises from insulin resistance. Managing PCOD through lifestyle changes, such as a healthy diet, regular exercise, and weight management, along with any hormonal treatments prescribed by your doctor, may help. To improve pigmentation itself, a dermatologist may suggest topical creams such as hydroquinone, azelaic acid, or retinoids, or other treatments depending on severity. Consistently using sunscreen is also important to prevent it from worsening.

Since you experienced night-time sleep disturbances during the first month, do not stop or restart the medication on your own. Continue taking it as prescribed, but contact your gynaecologist before starting the second month to discuss your sleep issues; they may adjust the treatment or suggest ways to manage your sleep. Keep a simple record of your bleeding and sleep patterns, and try to maintain a regular sleep schedule and healthy lifestyle to support your overall treatment.
