Pentids 400 Tablet is an antibiotic medicine used in the treatment of bacterial infections of the urinary tract, ears, nose, throat, chest, and lungs. This medicine contains penicillin G which works by inhibiting the bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to the penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) and thereby helps fight infection-causing bacteria. This medicine is not effective for treating viral infections. Common side effects include stomach pain, headache, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, skin rash, yellow-coloured eyes and skin, weakness, etc.

Drug-Drug Interaction: Pentids 400 Tablet may interact with anticoagulants (warfarin), anti-cancer drugs (methotrexate), pain killers (aspirin, indomethacin), and antibiotics (tetracycline, chloramphenicol).

Drug-Food Interaction: Avoid excess alcohol consumption while taking Pentids 400 Tablet .

Drug-Disease Interaction: Before taking Pentids 400 Tablet , let your doctor know if you have allergic reactions to medicines, kidney disease, asthma, heart or liver diseases, and are undergoing dialysis treatment.

Co-administration of Pentids 400 Tablet with Methotrexate may increase the risk or severity of side effects.

How to manage the interaction:
Although there is an interaction, Methotrexate can be taken with Pentids 400 Tablet if prescribed by the doctor. Consult the prescriber if you experience any symptoms such as fatigue, dizziness, fainting, unusual bleeding or bruising, fever, chills, sore throat, or body aches. Contact a doctor immediately. Do not stop using any medications without consulting to a doctor.

The therapeutic efficacy of BCG vaccine can be decreased when used in combination with Pentids 400 Tablet.

How to manage the interaction:
Although there is an interaction, BCG vaccine can be taken with Benylpenicillin if prescribed by the doctor. The doctor may advise dose adjustment or more frequent monitoring to safely use both medications.
