Secnil Forte Tablet is used to treat various infections caused by bacteria and parasites (amoeba). It is prescribed for the treatment of diarrhoea caused by microorganisms Entamoeba histolytica and Giardia lamblia. Additionally, it also treats vaginal and other bacterial infections. It slows down the growth or sometimes kills the harmful bacteria and parasites (amoeba) that cause infections. It may cause side effects such as headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhea, vaginal itching, and vaginal yeast infection. Before taking this medicine, you should tell your doctor if you are allergic to any of its components or if you are pregnant/breastfeeding, and about all the medications you are taking and pre-existing medical conditions.

I'm having lower left abdominal pain. My doctor prescribed Flagyl 400 mg, Vibramycin, and Histac for 5 days, but the pain is returning. Now my doctor prescribed Secnil Forte 1000 mg. Please advise.

Lower left abdomen discomfort may not be totally resolved or may be non-infectious (such as bowel spasm, diverticular illness, or urinary/gynecological difficulties) if it persists after taking Flagyl, Vibramycin, and now Secnil Forte. For the time being, you should heed your doctor's advice, but if the pain persists or gets worse, ask for more testing, such as an ultrasound or CT scan and pertinent urine or stool tests.

I have lower right stomach ache that comes and goes for 2-10 minutes, happening 2-3 times a day. My consultant prescribed Secnil Forte 1g, but the pain persists. Please help.

Intermittent right-lower abdominal pain that persists despite Secnil Forte needs further evaluation, as causes can include appendicular issues, intestinal spasm, kidney/urinary problems, or gynecological conditions. Please consult your doctor again for an ultrasound/CT and urine or stool tests, and seek urgent care if pain becomes severe, constant, or is associated with fever or vomiting.

Side effects of Secnil Forte Tablet

Stomach Problems

Inflammation Of Tongue

Brush your teeth at least twice a day using a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste.
Avoid tobacco, alcohol and spicy or hot foods as these can irritate your tongue.
To help maintain moisture in your mouth and minimize inflammation, drink lots of water.

Metallic Taste

Frequent flossing and brushing can help remove bacteria and debris that can give your teeth a metallic taste.
The metallic flavor may be caused by a zinc deficiency. Eat foods like meat, chicken, and oysters that are high in zinc.
Reducing the intake of foods with strong aromas, like onions and garlic, as they may intensify the taste of metallic substances.
Avoid smoking and tobacco products as they may intensify the metallic flavor.

Dry Mouth

Here are the steps to Dry Mouth (xerostomia) caused by medication:

Inform your doctor about dry mouth symptoms. They may adjust your medication regimen or prescribe additional medications to manage symptoms.
Drink plenty of water throughout the day to help keep your mouth moist and alleviate dry mouth symptoms.
Chew sugar-free gum or candies to increase saliva production and keep your mouth moisturized.
Use saliva substitutes, such as mouthwashes or sprays, only if your doctor advises them to help moisturize your mouth and alleviate dry mouth symptoms.
Avoid consuming smoking, alcohol, spicy or acidic foods, and other irritants that may aggravate dry mouth symptoms.
Schedule regular dental check-ups to keep track of your oral health and handle any dry mouth issues as they arise.

Stomach Pain

Drink water or other clear fluids.
To prevent worsening of pain, limit intake of tea, coffee, or alcohol.
Include bland foods like rice, toast, crackers, and rice in your diet.
Avoid lying down immediately after eating as it may cause indigestion or heartburn.
Avoid acidic and spicy food as it may cause indigestion.

Taste Disturbance

Regularly brush and floss your teeth.
Rinse your mouth with water and baking soda a solution to neutralize acid in the mouth. This makes your food taste as it should.
Drink plenty of water or non-caffeinated drinks to prevent dry mouth which may lead to altered taste.
Try ginger, peppermint, fruit or green teas, lemonade, ginger ale or fruit juice to help mask unpleasant tastes.
Try sucking on sugar-free ice pops or ice cubes to prevent dry mouth.

Headache

Dealing with Medication-Induced Headache:

Hydrate your body: Drink enough water to prevent dehydration and headaches.
Calm Your Mind: Deep breathing and meditation can help you relax and relieve stress.
Rest and Recharge: Sleep for 7-8 hours to reduce headache triggers.
Take rest: lie down in a quiet, dark environment.
Cold or warm compresses can help reduce tension.
Stay Upright: Maintain good posture to keep symptoms from getting worse.
To treat headaches naturally, try acupuncture or massage therapy.
Over-the-counter pain relievers include acetaminophen and ibuprofen.
Prescription Assistance: Speak with your doctor about more substantial drug alternatives.
Severe Headaches: Seek emergency medical assistance for sudden, severe headaches.
Frequent Headaches: If you get reoccurring headaches, consult your doctor.
Headaches with Symptoms: Seek medical attention if your headaches include fever, disorientation, or weakness.

How does the drug interact with Secnil Forte Tablet:
Co-administration of the BCG vaccine with Secnil Forte Tablet may reduce the effectiveness of the BCG vaccine.

How to manage the interaction:
Although taking Secnil Forte Tablet and BCG vaccine together can cause an interaction, it can be taken if your doctor has suggested it. Do not stop using any medications without a doctor's advice.

How does the drug interact with Secnil Forte Tablet:
Co-administration of Cholera, live attenuated with Secnil Forte Tablet may reduce the effectiveness of Cholera, live attenuated.

How to manage the interaction:
Although there is a possible interaction between Secnil Forte Tablet and Cholera, live attenuated, you can take these medicines together if prescribed by a doctor. To ensure adequate vaccine response, you should not receive cholera vaccine, live until at least 14 days after you complete your Secnil Forte Tablet therapy. Do not stop using any medications without talking to a doctor.
