Unwanted Tablet is used in combination with Misoprostol to induce a medical abortion. When progesterone is blocked, the lining of the womb breaks down, and the pregnancy stops growing. This medicine is usually taken first, followed by another medicine called Misoprostol after 24 to 48 hours to complete the abortion process. It is also used to treat Cushing’s syndrome by helping to control excess cortisol levels. In some cases, it may be prescribed to regulate a delayed menstrual cycle and prevent ovulation (the release of a mature egg). It is not suitable for people with ectopic pregnancy (a condition where a fertilised egg implants outside the womb) or bleeding disorders. This medicine should never be used without a doctor’s guidance.
