I have peeling skin on my fingers along with pain and redness. What could be causing this, and what should I do?

Peeling skin on the fingers with pain and redness may be caused by skin irritation, allergic reactions, frequent contact with water or detergents, eczema, fungal infection, or dryness. In some cases, excessive hand washing, sanitiser use, or exposure to chemicals can damage the skin, leading to cracking and peeling. If itching, swelling, or small blisters are present, it may suggest eczema or an allergy. To help the skin heal, keep your hands clean, but avoid washing them too often with harsh soap. Apply a thick, fragrance-free moisturising cream or petroleum jelly several times a day, especially after washing your hands. Try to avoid direct contact with detergents, cleaning products, and hot water. Wearing cotton-lined gloves while doing household work may further protect the skin. Do not scratch or peel the skin forcefully, as this may worsen irritation and increase the risk of infection. If your symptoms continue, spread, or develop into swelling, pus, or severe pain, please consult a dermatologist for proper examination and treatment.
