Begin by washing your hands thoroughly with soap and water. Pat them dry with a towel. You may also use an alcohol swab to clean your finger before testing, but make sure it's completely dry before you start.
Take a diabetes test strip from the OneTouch Ultra Test Strips 25 pack and insert it into the slot on your glucometer just before pricking your finger.
Using a clean lancet (a device that holds the needle), prick the end of your finger.
After pricking your finger, wait until a drop of blood forms. Wipe off the first drop, and then put one or two drops onto the test strip attached to your glucometer.
Apply pressure using a clean cotton pad or gauze on the prick site until the bleeding stops.
Your blood glucose level will now appear on the meter's display. It's important to note down your readings to monitor your glucose levels over time.
Repeat this process each time you test your blood glucose level.
