I have earwax buildup and do not use earbuds, so it has not been cleaned out properly. Can I use Soliwax drops before getting my ears flushed, or is there a better way to safely remove earwax?
Vikas Singh

Earwax normally protects the ear canal, but sometimes it becomes hard and builds up, leading to blockage, heaviness, reduced hearing, ringing sound, or discomfort. Avoiding earbuds is actually a good habit because earbuds often push the wax deeper instead of removing it properly. When the wax becomes dry or tightly packed, softening it before cleaning usually makes removal easier and safer. Soliwax Ear Drops is commonly used to soften wax before ear cleaning or flushing, but it should be used only if the eardrum is healthy and there is no ear infection, discharge, or hole in the eardrum. Pouring oil, water, or using sharp objects inside the ear at home can sometimes worsen blockage or injure the ear canal. In many cases, a doctor can safely remove the wax using suction or proper instruments after examining the ear. If you notice severe pain, dizziness, ear discharge, swelling, fever, or sudden hearing loss, it is better not to attempt self-cleaning and get the ears checked directly.
My left ear is gradually becoming less sensitive to sound. What might be causing this?
Chandrakanta Jena

A gradual decrease in hearing in one ear may be caused by earwax buildup, middle ear fluid, age-related hearing loss, or damage to the inner ear or auditory nerve. Infections or exposure to loud noise may also contribute. It is important to see an ENT doctor for a proper examination and hearing test to determine the exact cause and receive appropriate treatment.
