Folic acid requirements are usually met through the diet, but additional supplementation is required in cases of deficiency. It is generally given at least 4 weeks before pregnancy and is continued up to 3 months of pregnancy.
It is recommended not to take Ferikind Tablet with tea, coffee, milk, or eggs, as the body may absorb less iron from supplements when taken together, which may reduce $ name's effectiveness.
Ferikind Tablet is best absorbed if taken on an empty stomach. But in some patients, it can cause an upset stomach when taken on an empty stomach. So, please take it as your doctor suggested if you have an upset stomach.
If you are pregnant, it is necessary to maintain the right level of folic acid to reduce the risk of neural tube defects as the baby's central nervous system develops. To avoid any defects, it is necessary to take it for the first 3 months, as the neural tube is fully formed by then.
Daily oral iron and folic acid supplementation with 30-60 mg of elemental iron and 400µg (0.4 mg) folic acid is recommended for pregnant women to prevent puerperal sepsis, maternal anaemia, low birth weight, and preterm birth.
Folic acid is rich in various foods like broccoli, brussels sprouts, liver, spinach, and asparagus, while iron is found in dark-green leafy vegetables, fortified cereals, nuts, and dried fruit. To maintain a healthy and balanced diet, include all major food groups, especially those containing vitamin c, as it aids iron absorption.
