Composition:
METRONIDAZOLE-1%W/W + POVIDONE IODINE-5%W/W
Uses:
Treatment of Burns, Wound infection.
Medicinal Benefits:
Meridin M Ointment is a combination medication containing Povidone-iodine (antiseptic) and Metronidazole (antibiotic) primarily used to treat and prevent skin infections in minor burns, lacerations (deep cut in the skin), cuts, and abrasions (the first layer of skin is scraped off). It is also used to treat postoperative wound infections. Povidone-iodine is an antiseptic applied on skin infected or likely to get infected. It slowly releases iodine, which kills or prevents the growth of these microorganisms. Metronidazole, being bactericidal in nature, kills the bacteria by damaging its genetic material (DNA) and preventing its growth, hence relieving the symptoms. Together, Meridin M Ointment prevents the growth of the microorganisms and promotes early wound healing.
Meridin M Ointment is a combination of antiseptic and antibiotic medicines that help treat skin infections, such as wounds, burns and cuts.
Meridin M Ointment works by inhibiting the growth of infection-causing microbes. As a small molecule, Iodine in Meridin M Ointment can easily penetrate microorganisms and oxidize essential proteins, nucleotides, and fatty acids, leading to cell death.

Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will gradually resolve. However, you are advised to consult your doctor if the side effects persist or worsen.
