Composition:
CEFTRIAXONE-1000MG + SULBACTAM-500MG
Uses:
Treatment of Bacterial infections.
Medicinal Benefits:
XTUM INJECTION 1.5GM contains Ceftriaxone and Sulbactam. Ceftriaxone is a cephalosporin antibiotic, whereas Sulbactam is a beta-lactamase inhibitor. XTUM INJECTION 1.5GM has broad-spectrum activity and is effective against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. It makes the drug effective in multiple serious bacterial infections, including infections of the bloodstream (septicemia), bones (osteomyelitis), the heart valves (endocarditis), the membranes protecting the brain (meningitis), acute bacterial otitis media (infection of the middle ear) and the lining of the abdomen (peritonitis) and to prevent and treat infections following surgeries.
XTUM INJECTION 1.5GM is used to treat bacterial infections.
XTUM INJECTION 1.5GM contains Ceftriaxone and Sulbactam. Ceftriaxone reduces the infection by inhibiting bacterial growth. It disrupts the formation of the cell wall (outer layer), which is essential for bacteria's survival. Sulbactam inhibits the action of beta-lactamase, an enzyme bacteria produce to destroy antibiotics. Sulbactam enhances the activity of ceftriaxone.
Common side effects of XTUM INJECTION 1.5GM are pain and swelling at the injection site, skin rash, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and black/tarry stools. These side effects are usually mild and temporary. However, if any of these side effects persist or worsen, inform your doctor immediately.
XTUM INJECTION 1.5GM should be avoided in conditions like gastrointestinal diseases, liver diseases, kidney diseases, seizure disorders, bleeding disorders, antibiotic resistance and bleeding disorders.
Do not stop taking XTUM INJECTION 1.5GM suddenly because your symptoms may improve before the infection is completely cured. Complete the full course of treatment even if you feel better.
People allergic to penicillin should not take XTUM INJECTION 1.5GM as they may develop cross-sensitivity (sensitivity to drugs with similar structures). XTUM INJECTION 1.5GM contains ceftriaxone, which has a similar structure to that of penicillin.
XTUM INJECTION 1.5GM may cause allergic reactions, such as skin rashes, swelling, difficulty breathing, or in rare cases, anaphylaxis (a severe, rapid allergic reaction). If you have a history of allergies to antibiotics, please inform your doctor before using XTUM INJECTION 1.5GM.
XTUM INJECTION 1.5GM may cause diarrhoea as a side effect. Like other antibiotics, it can disrupt the normal balance of bacteria in your gut. To help manage antibiotic-related diarrhoea, make sure to stay hydrated, consider taking probiotics, avoid dairy, and limit high-fibre foods. If diarrhoea is severe or persistent, please consult your doctor.
XTUM INJECTION 1.5GM usually starts working within a few hours after you take it. However, you will likely notice an improvement in your symptoms within the first few days of treatment, depending on the severity of the infection.
If you don't get better after using XTUM INJECTION 1.5GM, it could mean that the infection is resistant to the antibiotic or there might be complications. Please contact your doctor so they can assess your condition and adjust your treatment if needed. The doctor may test for antibiotic resistance, try a different antibiotic, or investigate other possible causes.
