Betadine Vaginal Pessaries 10's is a fungicidal, bactericidal, and trichomonacidal agent used to treat vaginal infections, including vaginal candidiasis, Gardnerella vaginitis/bacterial vaginosis (bacterial overgrowth in the vagina), trichomonal infections, and vaginal inflammation/vaginitis. It also relieves vaginal soreness, itching, and irritation. Vaginal infection is the infection of the vagina and tissues at the opening of the vagina (vulva). 

Betadine Vaginal Pessaries 10's contains Povidone Iodine that works by inhibiting the growth of infection-causing microbes. As a small molecule, iodine can easily penetrate microorganisms and oxidizes essential proteins, nucleotides, and fatty acids, leading to cell death. It is effective against infections caused by bacteria, fungi, viruses, yeast, and protozoa.

Betadine Vaginal Pessaries 10's is for vaginal use only. Common side effects of Betadine Vaginal Pessaries 10's include vaginal pain/soreness, burning sensation, irritation, itching, swelling, redness in the vaginal area, and vaginal dryness. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. If these side effects persist longer, please consult your doctor.

Betadine Vaginal Pessaries 10's is used to treat vaginal infections. It contains Povidone iodine that has fungicidal, bactericidal, and trichomonacidal action. It is useful in treating blood, pus, and vaginal secretions caused due to infection. It is effective against infections caused by bacteria, viruses, fungi, yeast, and protozoa. It is also helpful in pre-operative disinfection and diagnostic procedures for acute and chronic infections of the vagina (vaginitis).

Do not use Betadine Vaginal Pessaries 10's if you are allergic to any of its components. If the medicine gets into your eyes, nose, or mouth, rinse with cold water. Please inform your doctor if you use any medicines, including vitamin and herbal supplements, before using Betadine Vaginal Pessaries 10's. Let your doctor know if you have any liver, kidney diseases, or thyroid problems like nodular colloidal goitre, endemic goitre, Hashimoto's thyroiditis, and thyroid carcinoma before starting Betadine Vaginal Pessaries 10's. Betadine Vaginal Pessaries 10's is not recommended in pregnant and breastfeeding women. Do not use Betadine Vaginal Pessaries 10's in pre-puberty children; please consult your doctor for further information.

Drug-Drug Interaction: Do not use Betadine Vaginal Pessaries 10's with mercury or silver containing disinfectants and contraceptive devices.

Drug-Disease Interaction: Before using Betadine Vaginal Pessaries 10's, let your doctor know if you have any allergic reactions to iodine or povidone, thyroid diseases, liver or kidney problems.

• Avoid frequent douching to maintain the natural moisture in the vagina.
• Avoid scented deodorants and soaps for vaginal cleansing.
• Avoid or limit the intake of alcohol and caffeine.
• Foods and supplements rich in probiotic bacteria may help balance the natural vaginal flora.
• Proper cleaning of the vagina is recommended during bathing or showering.
• Wear cotton lingerie to promote good airflow and decrease moisture build-up.
• Manage stress, eat healthily, drink plenty of water, exercise regularly, and get plenty of sleep.
• It is advisable to follow a candida diet during yeast infections. This diet excludes sugar, gluten, certain dairy products, and alcohol, switching to low-sugar fruits, non-starchy vegetables, and gluten-free foods. A very-high sugar or high-carbohydrate diet may increase the count of Candida in some people.

• Do not use Betadine Vaginal Pessaries 10's for four weeks before radioiodine scintigraphy or radioiodine treatment.
• Do not use Betadine Vaginal Pessaries 10's with concurrent lithium therapy.
• Betadine Vaginal Pessaries 10's may interfere with thyroid function tests; hence please inform your laboratory staff in advance.
