The thrombin acts on serum fibrinogen and converts it into stronger fibrin chains, which help tighten and retract clots, thus arresting bleeding and promoting wound healing. Applying topical hemocoagulase at the affected site reduces bleeding stoppage time, postoperative pain, and swelling.
