CEFAKIND XP 1000 INJECTION belongs to a class of medication called 'antibiotics' used to treat several bacterial infections of the urinary tract, blood, bones and joints, heart, brain, chest, ears, skin, or soft tissues. A bacterial infection is a condition in which harmful bacteria grow in the body and cause infection. It can infect any part of the body and multiply very quickly. CEFAKIND XP 1000 INJECTION does not work against infections caused by the virus.
CEFAKIND XP 1000 INJECTION is a combination of two drugs: Ceftriaxone (antibiotic) and Tazobactum (beta-lactamase inhibitor). Ceftriaxone belongs to the class of antibiotics that works by interfering with the formation of the bacterial cell wall (a protective covering) necessary for their survival. Thereby damaging the bacterial cell wall and killing bacteria. Tazobactum is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that enhances the activity of ceftriaxone and decreases resistance.
You are advised to take CEFAKIND XP 1000 INJECTION for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you based on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience diarrhea, rash, or abnormalities with white blood cells and platelets. Most of these side effects of CEFAKIND XP 1000 INJECTION do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.
If you are allergic to CEFAKIND XP 1000 INJECTION, penicillins, or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, please inform your doctor before taking CEFAKIND XP 1000 INJECTION. Drive only if you are alert as CEFAKIND XP 1000 INJECTION may cause dizziness. You are recommended to complete the full course of CEFAKIND XP 1000 INJECTION as prescribed by your doctor for effective results. CEFAKIND XP 1000 INJECTION may interact with certain tests such as glucose (sugar) in urine and coomb’s test, giving unusual results. Therefore, inform the doctor that you are taking CEFAKIND XP 1000 INJECTION before undergoing any tests.
Bacterial infections
CEFAKIND XP 1000 INJECTION is a combination of two drugs: Ceftriaxone (antibiotic) and Tazobactum (beta-lactamase inhibitor) used to treat several bacterial infections. Ceftriaxone is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that acts against both aerobic (grow in the presence of oxygen) and anaerobic (grow in the absence of oxygen) gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria. It interferes with the formation of the bacterial cell wall (a protective covering) necessary for their survival. Thereby damages the bacterial cell wall and kills bacteria. Tazobactum is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that enhances the activity of ceftriaxone and decreases resistance.

If you have kidney or liver problems, diarrhea, hemolytic anemia (reduction in red blood cells that may make your skin pale yellow and cause breathlessness or weakness), kidney or gall stones, or inflammation of the large intestine, inform your doctor before taking CEFAKIND XP 1000 INJECTION. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, please inform your doctor before taking CEFAKIND XP 1000 INJECTION. Drive only if you are alert as CEFAKIND XP 1000 INJECTION may cause dizziness. You are recommended to complete the full course of CEFAKIND XP 1000 INJECTION as prescribed by your doctor for effective results. CEFAKIND XP 1000 INJECTION may interact with certain tests such as glucose (sugar) in urine and coomb’s test, giving unusual results. If you are on a low-sodium diet or are about to receive calcium-containing products, please inform your doctor before taking CEFAKIND XP 1000 INJECTION.
Drug-Drug Interaction: CEFAKIND XP 1000 INJECTION may interact with a blood thinner (heparin), drugs used to lower high uric acid levels (probenecid), neuromuscular blocking agent (vecuronium), anticancer drug (methotrexate), water tablet (furosemide) and antibiotics (chloramphenicol, gentamicin, streptomycin).

Interaction of CEFAKIND XP 1000 INJECTION with alcohol is unknown. Please consult a doctor before consuming alcohol while using CEFAKIND XP 1000 INJECTION.
Please consult a doctor if you are pregnant or planning for pregnancy. CEFAKIND XP 1000 INJECTION is given to pregnant women only if the doctor thinks benefits outweigh risks.
It is unknown whether CEFAKIND XP 1000 INJECTION is excreted in human milk. CEFAKIND XP 1000 INJECTION is given to breastfeeding mothers if the doctor thinks benefits are greater than risks. Please consult a doctor if you are breastfeeding.
CEFAKIND XP 1000 INJECTION may cause dizziness in some people. Therefore, avoid driving if you feel dizzy after taking CEFAKIND XP 1000 INJECTION.
Take CEFAKIND XP 1000 INJECTION with caution, especially if you have a history of Liver diseases/conditions. The dose may be adjusted by your doctor as required.
Take CEFAKIND XP 1000 INJECTION with caution, especially if you have a history of Kidney diseases/conditions. The dose may be adjusted by your doctor as required.
CEFAKIND XP 1000 INJECTION is not recommended for premature and new-born babies up to 28 days who has jaundice or certain blood problems. However, CEFAKIND XP 1000 INJECTION is given to children only if prescribed by a doctor.
