About Cefodix-CV Tablet
Cefodix-CV Tablet is used to treat various bacterial infections, such as throat infections (pharyngitis, tonsillitis), ear infections (otitis media), sinus infections (sinusitis), pneumonia (lung infection), gonorrhoea (a sexually transmitted infection), anorectal infections in women, as well as skin and urinary tract infections. A bacterial infection happens when harmful bacteria enter the body, multiply, and cause illness. These infections can affect different parts of the body and are usually treated with antibiotics prescribed by a doctor.
Cefodix-CV Tablet contains two medicines: Cefpodoxime (a cephalosporin antibiotic) and Clavulanic acid (a beta-lactamase inhibitor). Cefpodoxime kills bacteria by stopping them from building their protective cell wall. Clavulanic acid helps by blocking enzymes that make bacteria resistant to antibiotics, making Cefpodoxime work better. Together, they help clear the infection and prevent it from spreading.
Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of treatment with Cefodix-CV Tablet based on your condition and the severity of the infection. Some common side effects may include diarrhoea, stomach pain, nausea, and vomiting. These side effects are usually mild and go away on their own. Cefodix-CV Tablet is a combination of two antibiotics: Cefpodoxime (cephalosporin antibiotic) and Clavulanic acid (beta-lactamase inhibitor). Cefpodoxime works by preventing the formation of bacterial cell covering, which is necessary for their survival. Thus, it kills the bacteria. Clavulanic acid works by decreasing bacterial resistance and enhancing the activity of cefpodoxime against the bacteria. Together, Cefodix-CV Tablet helps to treat bacterial infections. Cefodix-CV Tablet is a broad-spectrum antibiotic which is effective against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including beta-lactamase-producing strains.

Co-administration of Cefodix-CV Tablet with Heparin may enhance the levels or effects of heparin by anticoagulation (preventing blood from clotting).

Although there is an interaction, Cefodix-CV Tablet can be taken with Heparin if prescribed by the doctor. Do not stop using any medications without a doctor's advice. Do not discontinue the medication without consulting a doctor.
Co-administration of Cefodix-CV Tablet with the Cholera vaccine may reduce the effectiveness of the vaccine.
How to manage the interaction:
Talk to your doctor before receiving the Cholera vaccine if you are currently being treated with Cefodix-CV Tablet or have been treated within the last 14 days. To ensure adequate vaccine response, you should not receive cholera vaccine until at least 14 days after you complete your antibiotic therapy. Do not discontinue the medication without consulting a doctor.
