About Cefupop-S Tablet

Cefupop-S Tablet belongs to the group of medications called antibiotics used to treat bacterial infections. Bacterial infections are caused by the multiplication of harmful bacteria inside or on the body. These harmful bacteria produce chemicals known as toxins, which can damage tissue and make you sick. Symptoms of bacterial infection vary depending on the organ affected by bacteria.

Cefupop-S Tablet contains Cefixime and Sulbactam. Cefixime is a cephalosporin antibiotic. It works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering, which is required for bacterial survival. Sulbactam is a beta-lactamase inhibitor; the inclusion of sulbactam extends the cefixime spectrum of action to beta-lactamase-producing strains of bacteria.

You should take this medicine exactly as prescribed by the doctor. The common side-effects of Cefupop-S Tablet are diarrhoea, stomach pain, nausea, and vomiting. These side effects are usually mild and temporary. However, if these side effects persist or worsen, inform your doctor immediately.

Co-administration of Cefupop-S Tablet with Cholera vaccine may reduce the effectiveness of the vaccine.

How to manage the interaction:
Talk to your doctor before receiving the cholera vaccine if you are currently being treated with Cefupop-S Tablet or have been treated within the last 14 days. To ensure adequate vaccine response, you should not receive cholera vaccine until at least 14 days after you complete your antibiotic therapy. Do not discontinue the medication without consulting a doctor.
