About Cefzole Tablet

Cefzole Tablet belongs to the group of 'antibacterial medications,' primarily used to treat bacterial infections. A bacterial infection is a condition in which harmful bacteria enter, multiply and infect the body. They can target any part of the body and multiply very quickly. These infections vary from minor illnesses like sore throat and ear infections to severe brain infections like meningitis and encephalitis.

Cefzole Tablet is a combination medicine. It is used to treat bacterial infections. It contains Cefixime, Lactic Acid Bacillus and Ornidazole. Ornidazole destroys microorganisms by breaking their DNA, stopping them from growing or reproducing.

In some cases, you may experience certain common side-effects such as nausea, vomiting, indigestion, headache, dizziness, diarrhoea and stomach pain. Most of these side-effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side-effects persistently.

Before starting Cefzole Tablet, please inform your doctor if you have any allergy (against these antibiotics), kidney or liver problems. Do not take Cefzole Tablet on your own as self-medication may lead to antibiotic-resistance in which antibiotics fail to act against specific bacterial infections. Consult your doctor before taking Cefzole Tablet if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Avoid alcohol consumption while taking Cefzole Tablet as it may cause increased dizziness. Cefzole Tablet may cause dizziness and vision problems, so be cautious while driving. Inform your doctor about all the medications you are taking and pre-existing medical conditions.

Drug Warnings

Tell your doctor if you have liver problems (jaundice), muscle problems (myasthenia gravis), heart rhythm disorder (arrhythmia), diabetes, electrolyte imbalance (low potassium or magnesium level), and kidney or liver diseases. In rare cases, the use of Cefzole Tablet can cause diarrhoea, so if you have watery or bloody diarrhoea, stop taking Cefzole Tablet and call your doctor. However, do not take any anti-diarrhoeal medicine until your doctor tells you. Consult your doctor before taking Cefzole Tablet if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Avoid alcohol consumption while taking Cefzole Tablet as it causes increased dizziness. Cefzole Tablet may cause dizziness and vision problems, so be cautious while driving. Cefzole Tablet is not recommended for use in children unless recommended by a doctor. Also, it is recommended to complete the course of medicine even if you feel better as Cefzole Tablet contains antibiotics, and leaving it in between may lead to even severe infection that will, in fact, stop responding to the antibiotic as well (antibiotic resistance).

Diet & Lifestyle Advise

  • Probiotics should be taken after taking the full course of Cefzole Tablet to restore some of the healthy bacteria in the intestines that may have been killed. Taking probiotics after antibiotic treatment can reduce the risk of antibiotic-associated diarrhoea. Certain fermented foods like yogurt, cheese, sauerkraut and kimchi can help restore the intestine's good bacteria.
  • Include more fibre-enriched food in your diet, as it can be easily digested by your gut bacteria, which helps stimulate their growth. Thus, fibre foods may help restore healthy gut bacteria after a course of antibiotics. Whole grains like whole-grain bread, brown rice should be included in your diet.
  • Avoid taking too much calcium, iron-enriched foods and drinks as it might affect the working of Cefzole Tablet.
  • Avoid intake of alcoholic beverages with Cefzole Tablet as it can make you dehydrated and affect your sleep. This can make it harder for your body to aid the Cefzole Tablet in fighting off infections.
