Claridot Powder for infusion belongs to the group of medicines known as macrolide antibiotics, used to treat infections caused by bacteria such as bronchitis, pneumonia, throat, sinus, skin and soft tissue infections. It is prescribed for treating severe infections or when oral therapy is ineffective.
Claridot Powder for infusion contains 'Clarithromycin', which works by killing the bacteria that cause the infection by preventing the synthesis of essential proteins necessary for the survival of the bacteria. Thereby, it effectively treats bacterial infections.
You may experience injection site reactions (redness, swelling, and pain), headache, nausea or vomiting, stomach pain, and diarrhoea. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and resolve over time. Please consult your doctor if these side effects become troublesome.

Using Claridot Powder for infusion together with statins (medicines used to lower cholesterol levels) is not advisable. Please notify your doctor if you must take these medications. Your doctor may advise you to maintain a time gap between these two medications.
Claridot Powder for infusion can cause Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhoea (CDAD). If you have diarrhoea that is watery or bloody, inform your doctor. Do not use anti-diarrhoea medicine unless your doctor tells you to.
You should inform your doctor before taking Claridot Powder for infusion if you have liver or kidney dysfunction, heart rhythm disorder (arrhythmia) or QT prolongation, electrolyte imbalance (low potassium or magnesium level), or muscle problems (myasthenia gravis).
