Comantrel 100 Capsule contains a class of medication called dopamine agonists used to treat Parkinson's disease symptoms. It plays a vital role in treating symptoms such as difficulty moving, muscle stiffness, and tremors. Parkinson's disease is a nervous system disorder that causes movement, muscle control, balance, and other similar conditions.  In addition to this, it also prevents symptoms of influenza (a viral infection).

Comantrel 100 Capsule contains amantadine (dopamine agonist), which is an anti-Parkinson's drug. It helps treat Parkinson's disease by increasing dopamine (a chemical) level in the brain, responsible for improving body movement coordination. Thus, it effectively helps in performing daily functions in a better way and improving quality of life.

In some cases, Comantrel 100 Capsule may cause side effects like dry mouth, constipation, balance disorder (loss of balance), blurred vision, insomnia (difficulty sleeping), and peripheral oedema. Most of these side effects of Comantrel 100 Capsule are temporary, do not require medical attention, and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects are persistent, reach out to your doctor.

  • Avoid smoking and alcohol intake as it can worsen the condition and increase your imagination.

  • Talk to your dietician and consume food that can improve your mental health.
Here are the steps to Dry Mouth (xerostomia) caused by medication:
  • Inform your doctor about dry mouth symptoms. They may adjust your medication regimen or prescribe additional medications to manage symptoms.
  • Drink plenty of water throughout the day to help keep your mouth moist and alleviate dry mouth symptoms.
  • Chew sugar-free gum or candies to increase saliva production and keep your mouth moisturized.

What if I have taken an overdose of Comantrel 100 Capsule

Do not take more than the prescribed dose of Comantrel 100 Capsule as it may cause overdose. The symptoms of overdose include difficulty breathing, decreased urination, irregular or fast heartbeat, confusion, problems with coordination, stiff or rigid arms/legs, hallucinations and fear/irritability/aggressive behaviour. If you suspect you have taken overdose or notice signs of overdose, please consult a doctor immediately.

Do not take Comantrel 100 Capsule if you are allergic to amantadine or any of its ingredients. Also, do not take any live vaccination for at least 48 hours after the last dose of Comantrel 100 Capsule. Avoid dairy products as it may cause disease progression, and take some calcium supplements to avoid their deficiency.
