Desvine 50 ER Tablet is used to treat a major depressive disorder (depression). Major depressive disorder, also known as clinical depression, is a mental health disorder characterised by a persistent and intense feeling of sadness for an extended duration of time.

Desvine 50 ER Tablet contains desvenlafaxine, which works by increasing the levels of certain chemical messengers (serotonin and norepinephrine) in the brain. This maintains mental balance, helps regulate mood, and treats depression.

In some cases, you may experience certain common side effects such as nausea, dizziness, insomnia (sleep problems), constipation, sleepiness, loss of appetite, anxiety and male sexual dysfunction disorders. Talk to your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.

Before taking this medicine, you should tell your doctor if you are allergic to any of its components or if you are pregnant/breastfeeding, and about all the medications you are taking and pre-existing medical conditions. Consult your doctor immediately if you have suicidal thoughts, such as killing or harming yourself.

What if I have taken an overdose of Desvine 50 ER Tablet

Do not take more than the prescribed dose of Desvine 50 ER Tablet as it may cause serious side effects. The symptoms of overdose include drowsiness, coma, seizures, vomiting, agitation, hallucinations, fever, sweating, severe muscle stiffness or twitching, confusion, fast heartbeat, shivering, loss of coordination, fast/slow/irregular heartbeat, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhoea. If you suspect you have taken an overdose or notice signs of overdose, please consult a doctor immediately.

Drug Warnings

  • Do not take Desvine 50 ER Tablet if you are allergic to any of its contents; if you are taking linezolid, intravenous methylene blue, other serotonergic agents, monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI) or have taken them in the last 14 days.
  • Inform your doctor before taking Desvine 50 ER Tablet if you have heart problems, hypotension, bipolar disorder, glaucoma, epilepsy, lung or breathing problems, bleeding problems, or low sodium levels in the blood.
  • Consult your doctor immediately if you have suicidal thoughts, such as killing or harming yourself.
  • Please inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • Desvine 50 ER Tablet should not be given to children as safety and effectiveness have not been established.
  • Avoid consuming alcohol along with Desvine 50 ER Tablet as it could lead to increased sleepiness and dizziness.

Desvine 50 ER Tablet may dilate your pupils (widen the dark centre's of your eyes). This can trigger a glaucoma attack. Before taking Desvine 50 ER Tablet, consult your doctor if you have glaucoma.

Desvine 50 ER Tablet may cause seizures. If you have ever had a seizure, tell your doctor before taking Desvine 50 ER Tablet.
