Fintrix-500 Tablet is used to treat tinea capitis (scalp ringworm) in children aged four years and above. About Fintrix-500 Tablet

Fintrix-500 Tablet belongs to a class of drugs called antifungals used to treat tinea capitis (scalp ringworm) in children aged 4 years and above. Tinea capitis is a fungal infection of the scalp that is contagious and causes bald, itchy, and scaly patches of the ring shape.

Fintrix-500 Tablet contains Terbinafine, an antifungal drug that works by damaging the fungal cell membranes essential for their survival as they prevent the entry of unwanted substances into the cells and stop the leakage of cell contents. Thereby, kills fungi and clears the fungal infection.

Use Fintrix-500 Tablet as directed by your doctor. Use it till completion of the full course as your doctor prescribed. Fintrix-500 Tablet may cause some common side effects such as fever, vomiting, headache, diarrhoea, cough and nasal congestion. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your child’s doctor. 

If your child is allergic to terbinafine, please inform your doctor. Avoid or limit sun exposure using Fintrix-500 Tablet as it may make skin more sensitive to sunlight. Wear protective clothing and use sunscreen while going out to protect the skin from sunburn.

Directions for Use

Use it as advised by the doctor. Sprinkle granules on a spoonful of pudding or other non-acidic, soft food such as mashed potatoes, and swallow without chewing. Avoid mixing granules with apple sauce or fruit-based food.

What if I have taken an overdose of Fintrix-500 Tablet

Please do not exceed the recommended dose, as it might cause an overdose. Signs and symptoms of an overdose of Fintrix-500 Tablet may include headache, dizziness, vomiting, stomach pain, rash, and increased urination. Seek immediate medical attention if you observe any symptoms or think you have taken too much. Do this even if there are no signs of discomfort or poisoning.

If your child is allergic to terbinafine, please inform your doctor. Avoid or limit sun exposure while using Fintrix-500 Tablet as it may make skin more sensitive to sunlight. How to manage the interaction:
Co-administration of pimozide and Fintrix-500 Tablet is not recommended as it can lead to an interaction, but it can be taken if your doctor advises.
