Fixo-200 LB Tablet is an antibiotic medicine used to treat bacterial infections such as urinary tract infections, intestinal infections, respiratory infections, throat infections, eye infections, ear infections, and skin infections. This medicine contains cefixime and lactic acid bacillus (probiotic) which works by inhibiting the protein synthesis of the bacterial cell and thereby helps fight infection-causing bacteria. This medicine is not effective for treating viral infections. Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, indigestion, abdominal pain, and headache.

About Fixo-200 LB Tablet

Fixo-200 LB Tablet belongs to a group of antibiotics used to treat bacterial infections of the ear, nose, sinuses (sinusitis), throat (tonsillitis, pharyngitis), lungs (bronchitis, pneumonia), and urinary system (cystitis and kidney infections). Infectious or harmful bacteria can make you sick and reproduce quickly in your body. These harmful bacteria produce toxins, damaging tissue and making you sick.

Fixo-200 LB Tablet contains Cefixime (antibiotic) and Lactic Acid Bacillus (beneficial lactic acid-producing bacteria). Cefixime kills the bacterial cell by blocking the chemical (mucopeptides) released by the bacteria's outer layer (cell wall). In turn, Fixo-200 LB Tablet weakens and destroys the bacterial cell wall. It is a broad range of antibiotics that helps in fighting various types of bacteria. Lactic Acid Bacillus is a beneficial lactic acid-producing bacteria (good bacteria) that supports the growth of friendly bacteria in the intestine, maintaining a healthy balance of microflora in the gut environment. Lactic Acid Bacillus prevents diarrhoea due to a prolonged intake of Fixo-200 LB Tablet . Thus, together Fixo-200 LB Tablet helps in the prevention of infections.  Fixo-200 LB Tablet will not work for colds, flu, or other viral infections.

Take Fixo-200 LB Tablet with or without food. It should be swallowed as a whole, do not crush or chew the tablet. The dose and duration of Fixo-200 LB Tablet can vary depending on your condition and the severity of the infection. It is also recommended to complete the course of medicine even if you feel better, as it is an antibiotic. Leaving it in between may lead to severe infection that will stop responding to the antibiotic (antibiotic resistance). Sometimes, you may experience certain common side effects such as nausea, vomiting, indigestion, abdominal pain, and Headache. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.

Before starting Fixo-200 LB Tablet , please inform your doctor if you have any allergies (against any antibiotic) or kidney or liver problems. Do not take Fixo-200 LB Tablet on your own, as self-medication may lead to antibiotic resistance in which antibiotics fail to act against specific bacterial infections. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant, or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking Fixo-200 LB Tablet . As far as it is known, Fixo-200 LB Tablet may be used in pregnancy. Consideration should be given to discontinuing nursing temporarily during treatment with Fixo-200 LB Tablet .

Co-administration of Fixo-200 LB Tablet with Cholera vaccine may reduce the effectiveness of the vaccine.

How to manage the interaction:
Talk to your doctor before receiving the cholera vaccine if you are currently being treated with Fixo-200 LB Tablet or have been treated within the last 14 days. To ensure adequate vaccine response, you should not receive cholera vaccine until at least 14 days after you complete your antibiotic therapy. Do not discontinue the medication without consulting a doctor.
