About Gancor Eye Gel

Gancor Eye Gel belongs to the class of 'antivirals' used in treating herpes simplex keratitis. Herpes simplex keratitis is an infection that affects the cornea of the eye front surface of the eye) caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV).

Gancor Eye Gel contains Gancyclovir, which works by killing and stopping the growth of the herpes simplex virus on the cornea. Thereby helping to treat herpes simplex keratitis.

Gancor Eye Gel is for ophthalmic (for the eye) use only. Avoid ingestion of this medicine. In case of accidental intake, consult your doctor immediately. Common side effects of Gancor Eye Gel include eye irritation, burning/stinging sensation at the site of application, temporary blurred vision, sensitivity to the light, swollen and runny eyes, inflammation of the eyelids, and foreign body sensation. These side effects may not occur in every patient using Gancor Eye Gel and gradually resolve over time if they occur. If the side effects persist longer or worsen, please seek a doctor's advice.

Inform your doctor if you are allergic to any component present in this medication. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult the doctor before using the Gancor Eye Gel. Gancor Eye Gel may cause temporary blurred vision; hence avoid driving or operating machinery. Medicinal Benefits

Gancor Eye Gel treats viral infection of the eye caused by the herpes simplex virus. It consists of Gancyclovir, an antiviral drug that works by killing and stopping the growth of the herpes simplex virus on the cornea.

Directions for Use

Gancor Eye Gel is for ophthalmic use only. Wash your hands thoroughly before and after using Gancor Eye Gel. Lie down and tilt your head backwards. Pull your lower eyelid gently with your index finger to form a pocket. Instil the number of drops or a tiny amount of gel, as advised by the doctor, into the pocket of the lower eyelid. Close your eyes for 1-2 minutes. Replace the outer cap after use. Do not touch the container’s tip to the eye, eyelids or surrounding areas as it may contaminate Gancor Eye Gel.

Store in a cool and dry place away from sunlight

It is advised to remove your contact lens while using Gancor Eye Gel. Also, remember to wash your hands before and after using the medication to avoid contamination.
If you use other eye formulations along with Gancor Eye Gel, it is advised to maintain a gap of at least 5-10 minutes between each administration. Also, use eye drops before applying any eye ointments.
