About Glucoryl-M1 Tablet

Glucoryl-M1 Tablet belongs to a class of medicines called anti-diabetic drugs used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes, especially in patients whose blood sugar levels are not controlled by diet and exercise alone.

Glucoryl-M1 Tablet contains Glimepiride and Metformin. Glimepiride helps the pancreas release more insulin, thereby lowering blood sugar levels. Metformin reduces the amount of sugar produced by the liver, slows down sugar absorption from food, and helps the body use insulin more effectively.

In some cases, Glucoryl-M1 Tablet may cause side effects like stomach pain, nausea, diarrhoea, vomiting, headache or metallic taste. Most of these side effects of Glucoryl-M1 Tablet do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

Do not take Glucoryl-M1 Tablet if you are allergic to any of its components. Glucoryl-M1 Tablet is not recommended during pregnancy, breastfeeding and in children. Avoid alcohol consumption with Glucoryl-M1 Tablet as it may increase the risk of lactic acidosis (accumulation of lactic acid in the body).

Uses of Glucoryl-M1 Tablet

Glucoryl-M1 Tablet is used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. The detailed uses of Glucoryl-M1 Tablet are as follows:

  • Management of Type 2 Diabetes: Glucoryl-M1 Tablet helps lower blood sugar levels in individuals diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.
  • Control of Blood Sugar Levels Post Meals: Glucoryl-M1 Tablet assists in lowering postprandial blood sugar spikes, which is beneficial for overall diabetes management.

Key Benefits

  • Glucoryl-M1 Tablet is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycaemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes.
  • It helps manage blood glucose levels in patients with diabetes and prevents diabetes-related complications like kidney damage, eye problems, and nerve issues.
  • Glimepiride stimulates cells in the pancreas that produce insulin, which helps remove sugar from the blood.
  • Metformin reduces sugar production by cells in the liver and delays sugar absorption from the intestines. Additionally, it enhances the sensitivity of muscle cells to insulin, allowing these cells to remove sugar more effectively from the bloodstream.

Directions for Use

  • Glucoryl-M1 Tablet can be taken with meals or as prescribed by the doctor.
  • Follow your doctor's instructions on the dosage and timing of this medication to ensure safety.
  • Swallow Glucoryl-M1 Tablet as a whole with a glass of water.
  • Do not chew, crush or break it.

How Glucoryl-M1 Tablet Works

Glucoryl-M1 Tablet is a combination of two antidiabetic drugs, namely: Glimepiride and Metformin. Glimepiride works by stimulating beta cells in the pancreas that produce insulin. Thus, insulin helps to remove sugar from the blood. Metformin works by reducing the sugar production by cells in the liver and delays sugar absorption from the intestines. Also, it increases the sensitivity of muscle cells to insulin, which enables these cells to remove sugar more effectively from the blood.

FAQs

Glucoryl-M1 Tablet is indicated in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Glucoryl-M1 Tablet works by decreasing the amount of glucose absorbed from the food and the amount of glucose made by the liver. It helps the pancreas to produce insulin and helps the body use insulin efficiently.

Glucoryl-M1 Tablet may increase the risk of low blood sugar levels, especially with alcohol intake, exercise more than usual, delay or miss snacks or meals. However, if you experience any signs of low blood pressure, such as dizziness, nausea, light-headedness, dehydration or fainting, please consult a doctor.

In type 1 diabetes, the body does not produce insulin as the islet cells (insulin-producing cells) in the pancreas are destroyed completely. In type 2 diabetes, though islet cells are working, the body doesn't respond to insulin as the body becomes resistant to it.

You are not recommended to stop taking Glucoryl-M1 Tablet on your own as discontinuing Glucoryl-M1 Tablet suddenly may cause recurring symptoms or worsen the condition.
