MIKASTAR 100MG INJECTION belongs to the group of antibiotic medicines called aminoglycosides used to treat bacterial infections. Bacterial infection can be defined as the proliferation/multiplication of harmful strains of bacteria inside or on the body. Infectious or harmful bacteria can make you sick and reproduce quickly in your body. These harmful bacteria produce chemicals known as toxins, which can damage tissue and make you sick.
MIKASTAR 100MG INJECTION works by inhibiting the production of bacterial proteins which are necessary for the survival of the bacteria. Thereby, leads to the death of the bacterial cell. Thus, MIKASTAR 100MG INJECTION helps treat bacterial infections.
MIKASTAR 100MG INJECTION will be administered by a healthcare professional. Do not self-administer. In some cases, you may experience certain common side-effects such as irritation at the site of application, skin rash, nausea, and vomiting. Most of these side-effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side-effects persistently.
Do not be reluctant to speak with your doctor if you experience any difficulty while taking MIKASTAR 100MG INJECTION. Your doctor may advise you to get urine, blood, and hearing tests before and during the treatment to check for signs of side-effects. Depending upon the results of these tests your doctor may adjust the dose of MIKASTAR 100MG INJECTION. Do not take MIKASTAR 100MG INJECTION if you are allergic to any of the components, antibiotics related to aminoglycosides, sulphites, if you are suffering from a disorder called myasthenia gravis (severe weakness of muscles in the body), and dehydration. Talk to your doctor before taking MIKASTAR 100MG INJECTION if you have any kidney problems, or hearing problems such as tinnitus (buzzing or ringing in the ears). You are advised not to drive or operate heavy machinery after taking MIKASTAR 100MG INJECTION as it may cause dizziness. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, talk to your doctor before taking MIKASTAR 100MG INJECTION. The doctor will prescribe you MIKASTAR 100MG INJECTION only if the benefits outweigh the potential risks.
Drug-Drug Interactions: MIKASTAR 100MG INJECTION may have interaction with water pills/diuretics (furosemide, ethacrynic acid), pain killers (indomethacin, aspirin, lidocaine), antibiotics (like penicillin, kanamycin, gentamycin, ceftriaxone, vancomycin); vitamin supplements (like thiamine), anti-cancer drugs (like cisplatin).
Drug-Food Interactions: No food interactions have been found.
Drug-Disease Interactions: Inform your doctor if you have dehydration, neuromuscular blockade (blockage of the neuromuscular transmission at the junction), ototoxicity (ear toxicity/ear dysfunction) and renal dysfunction (kidney problems).
You are advised not to consume alcohol while taking MIKASTAR 100MG INJECTION as it may lead to unwanted side-effects.
MIKASTAR 100MG INJECTION belongs to pregnancy category-D. If you are pregnant, the doctor will prescribe MIKASTAR 100MG INJECTION only if the benefits outweigh the potential risks.
If you are breastfeeding, talk to your doctor before taking MIKASTAR 100MG INJECTION. The doctor will prescribe MIKASTAR 100MG INJECTION only if the benefits outweigh the potential risks.
MIKASTAR 100MG INJECTION may cause dizziness, therefore you are advised to drive and operate machinery only if you are alert.
MIKASTAR 100MG INJECTION is safe to be used in people with liver problems if prescribed by a doctor.
MIKASTAR 100MG INJECTION should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment may be needed in such patients.
MIKASTAR 100MG INJECTION can be given to children if prescribed by the doctor. Dose adjustment may be required as per the age and weight of the child.
