Mofilet-500 Tablet is used to prevent the body from rejecting a transplanted organ, such as a kidney, heart, or liver. About Mofilet-500 Tablet

Mofilet-500 Tablet belongs to a class of medications called immunosuppressants used to prevent the body from rejecting a transplanted organ, such as a kidney, heart, or liver.

Mofilet-500 Tablet contains ‘Mycophenolate mofetil’, which works by suppressing the immune system, allowing the transplanted graft to avoid rejection.

The common side effects of Mofilet-500 Tablet are diarrhoea, vomiting, nausea, and headache. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and resolve gradually over time. However, consult your doctor if any of these side effects persist or worsen.

Uses of Mofilet-500 Tablet

Mofilet-500 Tablet is used in the prevention of organ transplant rejection. The detailed uses of Mofilet-500 Tablet are as follows:

  • Prevention of Organ Rejection: Mofilet-500 Tablet is used along with other immunosuppressants (such as corticosteroids and cyclosporine) to prevent the body from rejecting transplanted organs like the kidney, heart, or liver.

What if I have taken an overdose of Mofilet-500 Tablet

Do not take more than the prescribed dose of Mofilet-500 Tablet , as it may cause an overdose. Symptoms of an overdose include nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, diarrhoea, heartburn, fever, chills, or sore throat. If you suspect you have taken an overdose or notice signs of overdose, please consult a doctor immediately.

Drug Warnings

  • Do not take Mofilet-500 Tablet if you are allergic to any of its ingredients.
  • Mofilet-500 Tablet must not be taken by women who are pregnant or who may become pregnant, as it may cause miscarriage or birth defects.
  • Inform your doctor before taking Mofilet-500 Tablet if you have a sign of infection such as a fever or sore throat, have any unexpected bruising or bleeding, have a history of digestive system problems such as a stomach ulcer, or have rare hereditary disorders such as Lesch-Nyhan or Kelley-Seegmiller syndrome (conditions caused by a deficiency of the enzyme hypoxanthine-guanine phosphoribosyl-transferase [HGPRT]).

  • Do not donate blood while taking Mofilet-500 Tablet and for at least 60 days after discontinuing the therapy.

Mofilet-500 Tablet belongs to the group of medications called immunosuppressants. It works by weakening the immune system by inhibiting the production of cells or antibodies that attack foreign cells. This effect helps in stopping the immune system from targeting and rejecting the transplanted organ.

Mofilet-500 Tablet can suppress the immune system and can increase the risk of skin cancer. Therefore, it is advisable to avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight. Also, wear protective clothing that covers your head, neck, arms, and legs, and use a sunscreen lotion with a high SPF (sun protection factor).

Mofilet-500 Tablet can suppress the immune system. So, you should not donate blood while using Mofilet-500 Tablet and at least 60 days after stopping treatment, as it makes you more prone to infections. Besides, men should not donate sperm while using Mofilet-500 Tablet for at least 90 days after stopping the treatment.

It is not advised to get pregnant while using Mofilet-500 Tablet , as it may cause birth defects/congenital disabilities in the unborn baby. So, it would help if you took an effective and reliable contraceptive while using Mofilet-500 Tablet , even when men are taking Mofilet-500 Tablet .

Mofilet-500 Tablet is given to stop rejection of the transplanted organ. If you abruptly stop taking this drug, it might result in rejection of the transplanted organ. So, check with your doctor if you want to stop using Mofilet-500 Tablet .

Mofilet-500 Tablet may increase the risk of skin cancer as it reduces the body’s defences. Limit the amount of sunlight and UV light, wear protective clothing and use sunscreen with high SPF.

Your doctor has prescribed Mofilet-500 Tablet to suppress your immune system and prevent rejection of the transplanted kidney.

Mofilet-500 Tablet is not a steroid or chemotherapy medicine. It is an immunosuppressant used to prevent organ rejection after a transplant.
