About Ofem Plus Tablet
Ofem Plus Tablet belongs to the class of medications called ‘Anti-bacterials,’ primarily used to treat diarrhoea and dysentery caused by infections. It also helps prevent or treat various other conditions, such as inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, intra-abdominal infections, recurrent infections caused by Clostridium difficile, and postoperative infections. Diarrhoea is a condition in which bowel movements are too frequent, leading to loose and watery stools. Dysentery is an intestinal infection that causes severe diarrhoea with visible blood in the stool, often triggered by bacteria or parasites.
Ofem Plus Tablet contains four active ingredients: Lactobacillus, Ofloxacin, Ornidazole, and Saccharomyces boulardii. Lactobacillus and Saccharomyces boulardii are probiotics that help restore good bacteria while preventing the growth of harmful bacteria in the gut. Ofloxacin is an antibiotic that kills bacteria by inhibiting the activity of an enzyme (DNA gyrase) required by bacteria for replicating and repairing its genetic material (DNA). Ornidazole is an antiprotozoal/antibiotic that kills bacteria and parasites by inhibiting protein synthesis and damaging their DNA, leading to cell death.
You are advised to take Ofem Plus Tablet for as long as your doctor has prescribed it, depending on your medical condition. In some cases, Ofem Plus Tablet may cause common side effects, such as gas, bloating, constipation, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, stomach pain, headache, and dizziness. Most of these side effects will gradually resolve over time without requiring medical attention. However, if you experience any of these side effects persistently, please consult your doctor.
Before taking Ofem Plus Tablet, inform your doctor if you are allergic to any of its ingredients, yeast, or other antibiotics. Also, let your doctor know if you have any medical conditions, such as a weakened immune system, gut problems, fungal infections, dehydration, low potassium levels, diabetes, bone/joint/tendon problems, seizures, muscle/nerve disorders, or heart/liver/kidney problems before starting this medication. Consult your doctor before using Ofem Plus Tablet if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. Avoid breastfeeding while taking Ofem Plus Tablet, as it may pass into breast milk. Ofem Plus Tablet should not be used in children unless prescribed by a doctor.
