About Ostospray Nasal Solution 3.7 ml

Ostospray Nasal Solution 3.7 ml belongs to groups of medications called hypocalcemic agents, primarily used to treat high blood calcium levels (hypercalcemia). It helps your bones stay as strong as possible. It can help if you have or are at risk of getting a health problem called osteoporosis. This is where your bones get weaker and more likely to break. Osteoporosis can happen for many reasons, but you're more likely to get it if you're a woman who has been through menopause or if you take steroids, for a long time. Some types of cancer treatment can also increase your risk of getting osteoporosis. Besides this Ostospray Nasal Solution 3.7 ml can also help people who have Paget's disease of bone. This weakens your bones and can bend them out of shape.

Ostospray Nasal Solution 3.7 ml contains Calcitonin is a calcitonin receptor agonist that prevents the loss of bones that happen after menopause and helps to rebuild bones. It also used to treat Paget’s disease of bone and hypercalcemia (high calcium level in blood). Calcitonin is a hormone; involved in helping to regulate levels of calcium and phosphate in the blood, opposing the action of parathyroid hormone. Ostospray Nasal Solution 3.7 ml works by inhibiting the activity of the osteoclasts (cells that break down bone). When the osteoclasts break down bone tissue, the calcium enters the bloodstream. Ostospray Nasal Solution 3.7 ml decreases the amount of calcium in the blood by preventing the breakdown of bone. Thereby, Ostospray Nasal Solution 3.7 ml strengthens the bones and minimize the risk of fractures.

Take Ostospray Nasal Solution 3.7 ml as prescribed by your doctor. Your doctor will decide the dosage based on your medical condition. In some cases, Ostospray Nasal Solution 3.7 ml can cause side effects like vomiting, flushing, stomach upset, swelling/redness at the injection site, a salty taste in the mouth, increased urination, or loss of appetite. Most of these side effects of Ostospray Nasal Solution 3.7 ml do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if these side effects persist longer, please consult your doctor.

If you are known to be allergic to Ostospray Nasal Solution 3.7 ml or its inactive components, please inform your doctor. Please tell your doctor if you have hypocalcemia (low calcium levels), and malabsorption syndrome (difficulty absorbing nutrition from food).  Consult your doctor before taking Ostospray Nasal Solution 3.7 ml if you are pregnant or breastfeeding; your doctor will prescribe you Ostospray Nasal Solution 3.7 ml only if the benefits outweigh the risks. Ostospray Nasal Solution 3.7 ml should not be given to children as safety and efficacy have not been established. Ostospray Nasal Solution 3.7 ml causes drowsiness, so drive with caution. Medicinal Benefits

Calcitonin is a hormone that the C-cells in the thyroid gland produce and release. It opposes the action of the parathyroid hormone, helping to regulate the blood’s calcium and phosphate levels. Ostospray Nasal Solution 3.7 ml works by suppressing the activity of the osteoclasts (cells that break down bone). When the osteoclasts break down bone tissue, the calcium enters the bloodstream. Ostospray Nasal Solution 3.7 ml lessens the amount of calcium in the blood by preventing the breakdown of bone. Thereby, Ostospray Nasal Solution 3.7 ml strengthens the bones and minimize the risk of fractures. Ostospray Nasal Solution 3.7 ml also seems to decrease the amount of calcium the kidneys can re-absorb, lowering calcium levels further.

    • A person should consume calcium and vitamin D in their diet as it helps make stronger bones and avoid everyday osteoporosis dangers.

    • A post-menopausal woman should limit salt intake as it can pose a high risk of losing more bone minerals than other women of the same age.

    • Do regular exercise like weight-bearing exercises which are important for maintaining bone health.

    • Calcium is important for making bones strong. Vitamin D is equally important, which helps to ensure absorption and retention of calcium in bones, so take food high in calcium and vitamins.

    Patients Concern

    Disease/Condition Glossary

Postmenopausal osteoporosis: It is a medical condition that causes thinning and weakening of the bones during/after a menopausal period. The chance of developing osteoporosis (weak bone) is related to estrogen deficiency. During the menopausal period (45 years of age), the drop of estrogen leads to more bone resorption (osteoclasts; bone breakdown) than formation (osteoblast; new bone formation), resulting in osteoporosis. In starting days, osteoporosis does not show any symptoms.  However, if proper treatment is not provided then it can even lead to broken bones. Initially, the bones don't hurt, and breaks in the bones of the spine may go unseen until they cause height loss.  In Osteoporosis, bones can break at any time even during daily activities like lifting or even from minor activities.

Paget’s disease: is a chronic disease of bone that disrupts the replacement of old bone tissue with new bone tissue, resulting in the new bone that is abnormally shaped, weak and brittle. It is most commonly occurs in the pelvis, skull, spine, and legs. Symptoms include bone pain, joint pain (especially in the back, hips, and knees), and headache, enlargement, and bowing of the thighs (femurs) and lower legs (tibias), and enlargement of the skull in the area of the forehead.

Hypercalcemia: is a condition in which the level of calcium in the blood is higher than normal. Too much calcium in the blood can weaken the bones, create kidney stones, and interfere with the working of the heart and brain. It is usually a result of overactive parathyroid glands. Symptoms include increased thirst and urination, stomach pain, nausea, bone pain, muscle weakness, confusion and fatigue.

    FAQs

Ostospray Nasal Solution 3.7 ml consists of Calcitonin is a calcitonin receptor agonist. It acts by suppressing the activity of osteoclasts (cells that cause destruction of bone), thereby strengthening the bones and minimizing the risk of fractures.

If you have osteoporosis, avoid smoking, or try to quit. Smoking can reduce bone mineral density and increases the risks of fractures.

Yes, Ostospray Nasal Solution 3.7 ml consists of Calcitonin that decreases blood calcium levels by inhibiting osteoclasts (a bone cell that breaks down bone), stimulating osteoblasts (a bone cell that builds bone), and stimulating calcium excretion by the kidneys.

Long term treatment with Ostospray Nasal Solution 3.7 ml for osteoporosis and osteoarthritis has shown an increase in the risk of cancer. Do not take Ostospray Nasal Solution 3.7 ml for longer durations unless prescribed by your doctor.

Ostospray Nasal Solution 3.7 ml contains Calcitonin is a hormone that regulates the calcium level in the blood. This hormone helps in bone formation and also helps the body to reverse bone loss. Due to this, the number of cells that damages bones becomes comparatively less, hence the bone damage is halted. Using Ostospray Nasal Solution 3.7 ml can increase bone formation by activation of the bone-forming cells.

Persons whose age is more than 45 years have low estrogen levels, female reaching menopause, too much consumption of alcohol, tobacco or caffeine, use of glucocorticoid and lack of calcium and vitamin D in the foods are some of the factors that can increase the risk of osteoporosis.
