PEDA HIB INJECTION is a vaccine belonging to the class of immunizing agents. It is used in the prevention of diseases caused by Haemophilus influenzae bacteria. Haemophilus influenzae type B (Hib) is a serious, life-threatening bacterial infection that mostly affects the upper respiratory system in children through nasal secretions.

PEDA HIB INJECTION contains Haemophilus B conjugate along with other excipients. It mainly works by generating antibodies against the Hib polysaccharide, which the body recognises as a foreign substance, and initiating an immune response against it.

PEDA HIB INJECTION may cause certain common side effects such as irritability, lethargy, decreased activity, pain, redness, and soreness at the site of injection. Most of these side effects will last for only a few days and resolve by themselves. PEDA HIB INJECTION will be administered by a trained healthcare paediatrician in the hospital.

Inform the doctor if your child has developed any allergic reaction to the previous dose received, has a known pre-existing allergy to any of the contents of PEDA HIB INJECTION or has had a severe allergic reaction following a previous dose of PEDA HIB INJECTION. Let your doctor know about your child's detailed medical history, including any chronic disease, neurological disease, HIV, or severe illness. It is important to inform the doctor of your child’s vaccination history.

PEDA HIB INJECTION is used for the prevention of Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib) disease. The detailed uses of PEDA HIB INJECTION are as follows:

• Protect against invasive Hib disease: PEDA HIB INJECTION helps the immune system develop antibodies that defend against Hib bacteria, which can cause life-threatening illnesses such as meningitis, pneumonia, epiglottitis, and septicemia.
• Support routine immunization in infants and young children: PEDA HIB INJECTION is typically administered starting at 6 weeks of age and is part of the standard pediatric vaccination schedule to ensure early and long-lasting protection.

PEDA HIB INJECTION may cause Guillain-Barre syndrome, altered immunocompetence, and severe allergic reactions in some children. Hence, children should be observed carefully after receiving the vaccine. This medicine is not intended for use in children above 6 years of age, adults, or pregnant and breastfeeding mothers. It is advisable not to use PEDA HIB INJECTION in conjunction with anticoagulant therapy and/or steroids and, if prescribed, should be used with caution. Inform the doctor right away about any medications that your child is currently taking and about any previous vaccination and medical history.
