About Podgain-CV Tablet

Podgain-CV Tablet is used to treat various bacterial infections, such as throat infections (pharyngitis, tonsillitis), ear infections (otitis media), sinus infections (sinusitis), pneumonia (lung infection), gonorrhoea (a sexually transmitted infection), anorectal infections in women, as well as skin and urinary tract infections. A bacterial infection happens when harmful bacteria enter the body, multiply, and cause illness. These infections can affect different parts of the body and are usually treated with antibiotics prescribed by a doctor.

Podgain-CV Tablet contains two medicines: Cefpodoxime (a cephalosporin antibiotic) and Clavulanic acid (a beta-lactamase inhibitor). Cefpodoxime kills bacteria by stopping them from building their protective cell wall. Clavulanic acid helps by blocking enzymes that make bacteria resistant to antibiotics, making Cefpodoxime work better. Together, they help clear the infection and prevent it from spreading.

Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of treatment with Podgain-CV Tablet based on your condition and the severity of the infection. Some common side effects may include diarrhoea, stomach pain, nausea, and vomiting. These side effects are usually mild and go away on their own. How does the drug interact with Podgain-CV Tablet:
Co-administration of Podgain-CV Tablet with Heparin may enhance the levels or effects of heparin by anticoagulation (preventing blood from clotting).

To ensure adequate vaccine response, you should not receive cholera vaccine until at least 14 days after you complete your antibiotic therapy. If you find blood in stools (tarry stools) or if you experience prolonged diarrhoea with abdominal pain, stop taking Podgain-CV Tablet and consult your doctor. Do not take anti-diarrheal medicine on your own.

Do not stop taking Podgain-CV Tablet despite symptomatic relief. To treat your condition effectively, continue taking Podgain-CV Tablet for as long as it has been prescribed for you.

Do not take Podgain-CV Tablet on your own, as self-medication may lead to antibiotic resistance, in which antibiotics fail to act against specific bacterial infections.

Podgain-CV Tablet usually begins to work soon after taking it. However, it may take few days to kill all the harmful bacteria and make you feel better.
