About Rabzo MSR 20mg/15mg Tablet

Rabzo MSR 20mg/15mg Tablet belongs to a group of gastrointestinal agents used to treat gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD). It is also used to treat acidity, indigestion, heartburn and peptic ulcers. Gastroesophageal reflux disease occurs when stomach acid frequently flows back into the food pipe (esophagus); this causes acidity and heartburn. Peptic ulcers are sores that develop on the inner lining of the intestine and stomach.

Rabzo MSR 20mg/15mg Tablet is a combination of two drugs: Rabeprazole (proton pump inhibitor) and Mosapride (prokinetic agent). Rabeprazole works by blocking an enzyme called the gastric proton pump, which is responsible for acid production. Mosapride works by accelerating the gastric emptying time, increasing the food pipe, intestine, and stomach's movement. It also increases the inferior oesophageal (food pipe) sphincter pressure, thereby preventing the backflow of food and acid into the mouth. Together, Rabzo MSR 20mg/15mg Tablet helps prevent acid reflux, thereby providing relief from dyspepsia (indigestion and abdominal pain), acidity, and heartburn.

Take Rabzo MSR 20mg/15mg Tablet as prescribed. You are advised to take Rabzo MSR 20mg/15mg Tablet for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you depending on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience certain common side effects such as nausea, stomach pain, diarrhea, flatulence, headache, dizziness, weakness, sleepiness, and flu-like symptoms. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.

Inform your doctor before taking Rabzo MSR 20mg/15mg Tablet if you have a history of gastrointestinal bleeding or intestinal obstruction. On long-term treatment, Rabzo MSR 20mg/15mg Tablet may cause osteoporosis-related fractures of the hip, wrist, spine, and hypomagnesemia (low magnesium levels). Do not take Rabzo MSR 20mg/15mg Tablet if you are pregnant or breastfeeding unless prescribed by the doctor. Rabzo MSR 20mg/15mg Tablet should not be given to children as safety has not been established. Rabzo MSR 20mg/15mg Tablet may cause drowsiness and dizziness, so drive only if you are alert. Avoid consuming alcohol and Rabzo MSR 20mg/15mg Tablet as it could lead to increased drowsiness and elevate stomach acid production.

Medicinal Benefits

Rabzo MSR 20mg/15mg Tablet belongs to a group of gastrointestinal agents used to treat gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Mosapride works by accelerating the gastric emptying time, increasing the food pipe, intestine, and stomach movement. It also increases the inferior oesophageal (food pipe) sphincter pressure, thereby preventing the backflow of food and acid into the mouth. Besides this, it also facilitates the intestine's movement, thereby increasing the frequency of bowel movements, softening stools, and reducing abdominal discomfort and pain. Mosapride enhanced the acid-inhibitory effect of PPIs such as Rabeprazole. Collectively, Rabzo MSR 20mg/15mg Tablet helps prevent acid reflux, thereby providing relief from acidity, heartburn, and dyspepsia (indigestion and abdominal pain).

Disease/Condition Glossary

Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD): The stomach is usually protected from acid by a mucous layer. In some cases, due to excess acid production, the mucous layer gets eroded, which leads to complications like GERD, acidity, heartburn and peptic ulcers. Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) occurs when stomach acid frequently flows back into the food pipe (oesophagus). This backflow (acid reflux) irritates the food pipe and causes heartburn and acidity. Symptoms include heartburn, sour or bitter taste in the mouth, and difficulty swallowing.
