It contains Serratiopeptidase, which breaks the insoluble protein (fibrin) into smaller units. It also causes thinning of the body's fluids, making fluid drainage smoother in the swollen tissue and relieving inflammation at the affected or injured site. In some cases, it may cause stomach ache, diarrhoea, nausea (feeling sick), and indigestion.
