info

Siluri-D 8 Capsule is used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (overgrowth of the prostate gland, a gland situated between the bladder and penis). It contains Dutasteride, which blocks an enzyme that is needed to change testosterone (male hormone) to another hormone that causes the growth of the prostate gland. As a result, it helps to shrink the prostate and reduce the symptoms like difficulty in passing urine. It may cause side effects such as low sexual desire, allergic reaction, and impotence (inability to get and keep an erection firm sufficient for sex). Before taking this medicine, you should tell your doctor if you are allergic to any of its components and about all the medications you are taking and pre-existing medical conditions.

About Siluri-D 8 Capsule

Siluri-D 8 Capsule is a prescription medication used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia, commonly known as an enlarged prostate. Its primary medical purpose is to help shrink the prostate gland, which relieves troublesome urinary symptoms and improves your overall comfort. By taking this medication, you can significantly reduce the risk of a sudden, painful inability to pass urine.

For this medication to work effectively, you must take it consistently once a day, at the same time each day. You can take it with or without food, as meals do not affect how the medicine is absorbed. Making simple daily adjustments, such as drinking fewer liquids before bed and avoiding bladder-irritating drinks, can also help maximise your results.

While taking this medicine, some men may experience mild, temporary sexual side effects, including a lower sex drive or minor breast swelling. If you notice any unusual changes, such as breast lumps or nipple discharge, you should contact your doctor immediately. It is important to monitor how your body responds to the treatment and keep your healthcare team informed.

Before starting this medicine, tell your doctor if you have a history of liver problems, as your body may process the drug more slowly. You must not take this medicine if you are a woman or a child. Pregnant women must avoid any contact with this medication, especially leaking capsules, because the active substance can be absorbed through the skin and cause harm to an unborn male baby.

Some prescription medicines can change how this drug works, so it is vital to share a complete list of your current medications with your healthcare provider. While moderate alcohol use does not directly interfere with the medicine, alcohol can irritate your bladder and worsen your prostate symptoms. If you are an older adult, discuss your health history with your doctor to ensure this is the safest option for you.

Uses of Siluri-D 8 Capsule

Your doctor may prescribe Siluri-D 8 Capsule to manage and treat conditions affecting the prostate gland. The primary clinical uses include:

  • Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH): Siluri-D 8 Capsule helps shrink an enlarged prostate, which relieves urinary symptoms such as weak urine flow, straining, and the frequent or urgent need to urinate.
  • Prevention of Acute Urinary Retention (AUR): By reducing the size of the prostate, this medication lowers the risk of a complete block in urine flow, helping you avoid painful bladder blockages.
  • Reducing the Need for Prostate Surgery: Long-term use of this medicine can help prevent the prostate from growing further, lowering the likelihood that you will require surgical procedures to treat BPH.

Key Benefits

Siluri-D 8 Capsule helps relieve urinary symptoms associated with an enlarged prostate by improving urine flow and reducing prostate enlargement over time. By easing urinary difficulties, it supports greater comfort and improves quality of life.

  • Helps Improve Urinary Flow: By relaxing the urinary tract and/or reducing the size of the enlarged prostate, Siluri-D 8 Capsule helps improve urine flow, making urination easier and reducing straining.
  • Reduces Frequent and Urgent Urination: Siluri-D 8 Capsule helps decrease symptoms such as frequent urination, urgency, and nighttime urination, allowing for better sleep and greater comfort during daily activities.
  • Supports Long-Term Prostate Health: With regular use, Siluri-D 8 Capsule helps manage the progression of benign prostatic enlargement, reducing urinary symptoms and supporting improved bladder function and overall urinary health.

Directions for Use

  • Siluri-D 8 Capsule can be taken with or without food as advised by your doctor.
  • It is usually taken once a day or as directed by the doctor.
  • Swallow Siluri-D 8 Capsule as a whole with a glass of water.
  • Do not chew, crush, or break it.

How Siluri-D 8 Capsule Works

Siluri-D 8 Capsule contains dutasteride. This medication belongs to a class of drugs known as 5-alpha reductase inhibitors. It works by targeting and blocking the specific enzymes in your body, known as type 1 and type 2 5-alpha reductase, that convert the hormone testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT is the primary hormone responsible for the growth and enlargement of the prostate gland. By blocking this conversion, the medicine significantly lowers the levels of DHT in your blood and prostate tissue. With lower DHT levels, the enlarged prostate slowly and naturally shrinks, easing the pressure on your urethra and allowing urine to flow more freely.

  • Limit fluids before bed: Reduce your intake of water and other liquids two to three hours before bedtime to minimise nighttime trips to the bathroom.
  • Avoid bladder irritants: Limit your consumption of caffeine and alcohol, as both can irritate your bladder wall and increase the urgency and frequency of urination.
  • Practise double voiding: When you urinate, wait a moment, relax, and try to empty your bladder a second time to ensure it is completely empty.
  • Stay physically active: Moderate, regular exercise like walking can help reduce BPH symptoms and support overall pelvic health.
