Simercetin 125mg Injection belongs to the group of medicines called antibiotics used to treat severe bacterial infections such as meningitis and typhoid. It should only be used when other antibiotics are not suitable. Bacterial infections are caused due to the multiplication of harmful bacteria inside or on the body. Simercetin 125mg Injection does not work against infections caused by viruses, including colds and flu.
 
Simercetin 125mg Injection contains ‘Chloramphenicol’ that works by preventing the synthesis of essential proteins which are necessary for vital bacterial functions. Thus, kills the bacteria and helps in treating infection. Simercetin 125mg Injection is a broad-spectrum antibiotic which is active against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.
 
In some cases, you may experience common side effects such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, dry mouth and headache. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if the side effects persist or worsen.
 
Do not use Simercetin 125mg Injection if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Simercetin 125mg Injection is safe for children if prescribed by a doctor; the dose and duration may vary depending on the child’s weight and the severity of the infection. Do not take Simercetin 125mg Injection if you are allergic to any of its components; or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Inform your doctor if you are taking any medicines which may cause bone marrow depression if you have a cold, throat infection, viral influenza, kidney or liver problems, or if you are about to be or have recently been vaccinated. Let your doctor know if you are taking any prescription/non-prescription medicines or herbal/vitamin supplements.
