Thiosol Sodium 500mg Injection belongs to the group of medicines called thiobarbiturates indicated for initiation of general anaesthesia, to provide hypnosis, as a part of treatment for cramps, and to reduce pressure in the skull in patients where the pressure is increased (if respiratory assistance is provided). It is also used to control seizures.

Thiosol Sodium 500mg Injection contains Thiopental sodium, which works by slowing the activity of the brain or nervous system. It creates a sleep-like state and loss of consciousness to prevent pain and discomfort during surgery.

In some cases, Thiosol Sodium 500mg Injection may cause side effects like irregular heartbeat, low blood pressure, sleepiness, coughing, and shivering. Most of these side effects may not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

Consult the doctor if you are pregnant or think you may be pregnant. Avoid breastfeeding during treatment with Thiosol Sodium 500mg Injection. Do not drive or operate machinery for 24 to 36 hours after receiving Thiosol Sodium 500mg Injection. Keep your doctor informed about your health condition and medications to rule out any side effects/interactions.

Do not use Thiosol Sodium 500mg Injection if you are allergic to any of its components or if you have respiratory obstruction (obstruction of the airways), asthma, myotonic dystrophy (hereditary muscle degeneration), porphyria, or severe shock. Inform the doctor if you have increased pressure in the skull, asthma or severe respiratory disorders, inflammation in the mouth, throat or jaw, heart or blood vessel disease, high blood pressure, inflammation of heart sac, hypovolemia (low blood volume), dehydration, severe bleeding or burns, myasthenia gravis, reduced function of the adrenocortical gland, severe anaemia, shock, liver or kidney impairment, metabolic disorder, addicted to alcohol or drugs of abuse. Consult the doctor if you are pregnant or think you may be pregnant. Avoid breastfeeding for at least 12 hours after the use of Thiosol Sodium 500mg Injection. Let your doctor know if you are taking any prescription/non-prescription medicines or herbal supplements.
