Tuxiril Syrup is used to treat coughs associated with a runny nose, sneezing, and throat irritation. Coughing (dry or productive) is the body's way of clearing irritants (like allergens, mucus or smoke) from airways and preventing infection.

Tuxiril Syrup is a combination of two drugs: Chlorphenamine maleate and Dextromethorphan hydrobromide. Chlorphenamine maleate blocks the effects of histamine, reducing allergy symptoms. Dextromethorphan hydrobromide prevents cough by blocking signals from the brain’s cough centre.

In some cases, Tuxiril Syrup may cause certain common side effects such as dry mouth/throat/nose, drowsiness, blurred vision, constipation, dizziness, and restlessness. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention. However, talk to your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, it is advised to inform your doctor before starting Tuxiril Syrup. Tuxiril Syrup is not recommended for children below 2 years of age. • Cough Relief: Tuxiril Syrup provides cough relief by acting on the brain's cough centre, reducing the frequency and intensity of coughing and preventing throat irritation.
• Allergic Symptoms: Tuxiril Syrup can be used to treat allergy-related symptoms, including throat discomfort, sneezing, and a runny nose.
• Sleep Aid: Tuxiril Syrup supports individuals who are having trouble sleeping because of a cough or respiratory pain by adding sedative properties.

• Tuxiril Syrup can be taken with or without food. However, taking it with food or milk may help reduce stomach upset.
• It is usually taken every 4-6 hours or as prescribed by your doctor.
• Shake the bottle well before each use. Take the prescribed dose by mouth using the measuring cup/dosing syringe/dropper provided with the pack.
• Avoid using regular household spoons, as they may not accurately measure the dose.

• Do not take Tuxiril Syrup if you are allergic to any of the contents.
• Avoid using Tuxiril Syrup if you have taken medicines such as linezolid, phenelzine, selegiline, rasagiline, isocarboxazid, tranylcypromine, and methylene blue injection in the past 14 days.
• Tuxiril Syrup should not be used in elderly patients with confusion.
• It is advised to seek medical help if the cough does not go away or if it is followed by a high fever, skin rash, or persistent headache.
• Tuxiril Syrup may cause drowsiness, dizziness, and blurred vision in some patients; therefore, drive only if you are alert.
• Avoid alcohol consumption along with Tuxiril Syrup as it might cause increased dizziness.
