VOLUVEN 6% INJECTION is used for the treatment of hypovolemia in both adults and children. It helps to replace lost blood plasma and prevent dehydration. Hypovolemia is a condition where the body loses too much fluid, such as water or blood. It can also be called volume depletion or volume contraction.

VOLUVEN 6% INJECTION contains hydroxyethyl starch and sodium chloride. Hydroxyethyl starch works by increasing blood volume and maintaining blood pressure, whereas sodium chloride works by maintaining fluid balance and treating dehydration or electrolyte imbalances. Thereby, together, we used to treat hypovolemia by maintaining proper blood fluids.

In some cases, VOLUVEN 6% INJECTION may cause side effects such as pruritus (itching), elevated serum amylase, and hemodilution. You are advised to talk to your doctor if the side effects persist or worsen. The dose of the VOLUVEN 6% INJECTION varies from individual to individual, depending on the medical health status.

Inform your doctor before taking VOLUVEN 6% INJECTION if you are allergic to any of the VOLUVEN 6% INJECTION ingredients. Monitor for signs of hypersensitivity reactions, discontinuing use if such reactions occur. Avoid using it in patients with pre-existing renal dysfunction, and discontinue at the first sign of renal injury. In patients undergoing open heart surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass, monitor coagulation status and discontinue use at the first sign of coagulopathy due to reported excess bleeding. Be aware that elevated serum amylase values may occur, potentially interfering with the diagnosis of pancreatitis. Monitor closely on liver and kidney functions, serum electrolytes, and fluid balance to avoid negative complications. High doses of VOLUVEN 6% INJECTION may lead to dilution of blood components and reduction in hematocrit and coagulation factors. Dose adjustment is required for patients with cardiac or renal dysfunction. Inform your doctor if you are a pregnant or nursing woman before taking VOLUVEN 6% INJECTION.
